Star Wars:Empires at War
I justed downloaded the just released demo for this game. First, the easiest way to explain it would be Total War meets Star Wars. I have to say I am shocked at the presentation of game. I t really gives you that Star wars feel and it appears to be a great RTS/Turn based game as well. The guys that made the command & conquer games had there hand in this one and they have some nice innovative features. If you like Star Wars,Rome Total War or Master of Orion/Civ games you have got to check out the demo.

I posted a thread about this yesterday, but haven't had the time to check the demo out yet. I'm hopeful to have time try the demo out tomorrow. If it is good as I think it will be, I'll be pre-ordering this weekend.

where the hell is it?? I can't find it anywhere

Check out the thread I posted yesterday: http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ighlight=force |
I've wanted this game all of my life and didn't know it.
|
right. but i'm not seeing the DL there anywhere.
|
It's on Gamespot's main page. Unless it is only available to gamespot complete members, but I doubt that.
|
If you go to IGN, there's a download there.
|
You can also click the gamespot demo page link in the other thread. It works.
|
Looks interesting, downloading now.

I would recommend gamers hell for nonregistration downloads it did take about two hours and my computer is quite fast
http://www.gamershell.com/news/27450.html also check blues news they have a snippet about the demo being released with a bunch of download links. http://www.bluesnews.com/ |
How does it compare to Galactic Battlegrounds?
I don't have the patience to start by building a little fort with Chewbacca's father and all that BS. I want to go big time! |

I really like the idea of the cinematic camera, however, usually the battle is over fairly quickly by the time I switch to that camera. However, that could be a function of using smaller forces in the early battles of the demo. Bombing runs were very neat looking in the cinematic view, and they really decimated ground forces/structures. Of course, I'm fairly sure there are counters to them. One concern is that the "accelerate time" was greyed out in the demo. I hope this will be in the final game as waiting for the bombing runs to be re-enabled took a bit of time. However, this reminds me of why I don't usually try demos until the retail version is out. I want the game to come out already so I can play more than just an hour or two of the game. I will be pre-ordering this weekend. Edit: Obviously, I'm not sure about the AI from the demo either, but it is supposed to have 2 player MP games, and I'm sure my best friend will be buying this as well. |

Galactic Battlegrounds is AOE2 with Star Wars guys. I've never played Total War, so I have no clue what its like. I havent played the demo either. |

Ahh, I remember that now. Even though I'm a sucker for Star Wars games, that one just didn't appeal to me for some reason. I tried it at a friend's house and thought it was just ok. The demo of this was MUCH more interesting to me. |

Hmm, didn't look at accelerate time for the ground battles but I know it works for the space battles. I used it during the demo campaign when fighting the Empire in that asteroid belt. |
I've been downloading this game for 4 hours now :(

It doesn't work for the ground battles, or at least not the tutorial where you bombard the enemy from space multiple times. |
Yes, this one is no comparison to the star wars battlegrounds game .That one was pretty much AOE 2 with Star Wars skins. This one looks, from the limited demo, to be quite good.
|
this demo is making me SOOO excited for the full game.

Ditto. I played for another hour tonight and I can't wait for this one on Feb 15th. |
Holy cow, just got done playing the demo twice in a row. This is everything I wanted Battlegrounds to be, and everything that turned based game from the late ninties should have been. I can't wait for mid Feb.
