? concerning FAF editor 1.4

When I change player names using the FAF editor in the draft files, old files from the FOF historical site, I will get an error. Basically I can't change the names without causing problems. Does anyone have any thought or work-arounds for this problem or is this a known problem? Any suggestions welcome.

It's a known problem, yes. Editing names won't work, but everything else should.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have two more questions: If you want to start a file from the begining how do you do that and how does unkown areas get assigned?

You can only edit existing draft files, which either has been created by TCY or the FOF2k4 draft file generator.

How did the Historical files get made if you can't change the names without the previous mentioned errors in the FAF 1.4 program?

They were created for FOF4 (with the 1.3 version) and converted to FOF2k4 format in Excel, which is why there are a couple mistakes in those files.

How do you convert the FOF4 files to FOF2k4 format? The reason I ask is that I can use this is a workaround if I can find the 1.3 version.

I wrote some Excel macros to help with the conversion, they are in this file:

Here's a post from Jim describing what's different:

Here's the old draft editor (v1.3):

Finally, two files where the first one contains values copied over from the 1.3 version of the faf editor, and the second is the converted csv file, ready to use with Jim's draft file generator.

Dola, remembered the thread where we talked about the 1.4 bug earlier:

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!! I have one more question, where are the fof4 draft files now? I have a new computer and need to download fof4 draft files. I have the site for the fof2004 game draft files, but the fof4 draft historical files are not there.

Once again thank you very much. This is not the first time you helped me and I appreciate your efforts.

I am unable to access "http://www40.brinkster.com", which is where all the files are. Do you have any links that would help me.

Try these:
http://hem.bredband.net/3ric/faf_convert.xls
http://hem.bredband.net/3ric/faf_editor.zip
http://hem.bredband.net/3ric/1999_fof4.xls
http://hem.bredband.net/3ric/1999_fof2k4.csv

It's also possible to use the 1.4 version to open the file and then select and copy the entire sheet into Excel, edit names, and then save it as a *.csv file before generating a new draft file with Jim's utility.
