Sex Offenders Map

http://www.familywatchdog.us/

Just put in your address to see if you have any registered sex offenders in your area. I was alarmed to see the number of schools within a couple miles of my house! Five of 'em!

Hurst2112 02-09-2006 12:13 PM

wow. found a couple fuckers around my house. Nice to see some of the scags don't have their pictures on there. (rolleyes)

moriarty 02-09-2006 12:15 PM

I found 35 in my area. Is that bad?

PilotMan 02-09-2006 12:17 PM

This is a handy site. Disturbing as hell. There is a convicted rapist that basically lives across the street in the apartment complex. That is never good to know. Oh, and I have a total of 9 within a mile and a half. Not as bad as other parts though.

George 02-09-2006 12:17 PM

Interesting and scary!

DeToxRox 02-09-2006 12:17 PM

Two of my friends dads are on here. We always had our suspicions.

PilotMan 02-09-2006 12:20 PM

Total of 154 on the initial map area, max range about 5.2 miles. Still, it could be worse.

Yay!!, the only neighbor I have spoken to in 3 years here was convicted of sexual assualt in '99. I can hear him talking through the walls now.

kudos to you for not getting wasted one night and screwing his life up more.

jeff061 02-09-2006 12:34 PM

Well the funny thing is he's always been a real nice guy. In a "I've been beaten down my whole life so I kiss everyone's ass" kind of way.

cthomer5000 02-09-2006 12:36 PM

I've checked a site out like this before, but never this specific one. Just found one of my friends from high school.

Eaglesfan27 02-09-2006 12:36 PM

Hmmmm.. It's showing up as service unavailable when I click on the link.

jeff061 02-09-2006 12:38 PM

Happens sometimes, just need to refresh.

DeToxRox 02-09-2006 12:38 PM

I don't condone violence but honestly, if every green blip on that map turned into a corpse, I'd applaud.

Wolfpack 02-09-2006 12:42 PM

A fair number around here (88 at lowest zoom), fortunately mostly green. If that can be said to be a good thing. I think Michigan must classify offenses differently or something because there were no rapists shown, just varying degree of sexual offense, shown in the "other" category.

Detroit is absurd, though. Shows about a thousand per map at broadest expanse. Lit up like a Christmas tree.

Eaglesfan27 02-09-2006 12:42 PM

Nevermind, it worked now.

774 within 5 miles of my current residence!

4 within 1 block of my current residence!

Eaglesfan27 02-09-2006 12:43 PM

Dola -

3 of the 4 were convicted of child molestation :(

watch your cornhole, dude.

jeff061 02-09-2006 12:50 PM

Checked where I grew up, rich and yuppiesh type town in southern New Hampshire. That has half a dozen or so child molesters. Kind of surpised by that.

WSUCougar 02-09-2006 12:51 PM

Damn, this bothers me. Looking at these bastards almost makes me literally snarl. I swear to God if anyone ever touches my wife or son I will kill them with my bare hands.

Hollis...Amherst?

Kodos 02-09-2006 12:53 PM

It is disheartening to see just how many of these people are out there.

gottimd 02-09-2006 12:55 PM

28 within a block of me.

I always wondered why there were random bars of soap everywhere.

j/k there are no offenders within 10 miles of me.

rkmsuf 02-09-2006 01:00 PM

I grew up and live in Nashua. None near the house but enough downtown.

We pick apples in Hollis. Much yuppiage there.

jeff061 02-09-2006 01:01 PM

Indeed, never went to school in Hollis, but from the few people around town I'd say they beat out Amherst. School kids in Amherst were a piece of work though, your place on the social ladder depended heavily on the car and vacation houses your parents owned.

gottimd 02-09-2006 01:01 PM

I was looking around my parents address, and I saw someone on there that the offense listed was just, "Carnal Knowledge", what kind of offense is that?

Oh yes. Lots of dough over there.

Should we be talking about this in the sex offender thread?

RendeR 02-09-2006 01:03 PM

3 within 10 miles, every conviction almost 10 yrs old and related to screwing their girlfriends

ibnsgirl 02-09-2006 01:03 PM

Wow. Happy to report that there are none when the zoom level is on 1. Of course, an airport and its property takes up a nice chunk of the map.

Unfortunately, 69 when the zoom is at 5 -- and the vast majority of those are against kids. :(

You know that thing you do with sheep? I think it's pretty close to that.

st.cronin 02-09-2006 01:03 PM

I was surprised. I think I read somewhere that some significant percentage of sex offenders are female (10%, or maybe more). Of course, most of the girls around here are lesbian, so I don't know how that skews the data.

Coffee Warlord 02-09-2006 01:12 PM

WOW are there some creepy looking dudes on there.

Raiders Army 02-09-2006 02:23 PM

I only have 1 that is 6.72 miles away from me. Not too bad.

dervack 02-09-2006 02:39 PM

It's somewhat disturbing that when I put in my zipcode, 69 are found within my area.

wade moore 02-09-2006 02:50 PM

I had 21...

My brother lives on Logan Circle in DC...

He had 879...

That's at whatever the default zoom level is...even at zoom level 3 he had almost 200...

JeeberD 02-09-2006 02:54 PM

190 on the default, only one in the highest zoom.

The bad thing is that the vast majority of the 190 are red...

Passacaglia 02-09-2006 03:28 PM

When I put in my old address in Grand Rapids, MI, 341 showed up -- mostly green. I found someone from my high school who had been convicted for this. Scary thing is, friends of mine still talk to the guy -- he's married, and goes by a different name to avoid the list. I don't even know if his wife knows about it.

If they all actually did it, then I think that might be ok. But we all know that the judicial system doesn't always get it right. Plus there are probably quite a few young guys that get hit with statutory rape (which isn't a good thing of course).

Yeah, I just moved from Kentwood 3 years ago, so I put in my old address. Voila! There were like 30 people within 3 miles of my old place. Most of them were apartment dwellers (specifically Wingate), which isn't a suprise since a lot of them are probably loners. I think I recognized a few of the wierder looking guys, which is creepy.

sabotai 02-09-2006 03:47 PM

My town is sex offender free!

Or, perhaps more likely, they haven't made their information available for this database.

Just guessing.

st.cronin 02-09-2006 03:54 PM

I'm curious if there's anybody here who thinks this is a bad thing. I know aclu types get all bent over this sort of thing, and I honestly don't know how I feel about it.

jeff061 02-09-2006 03:57 PM

I only have issues with an 18 year old having to register as a sex offender for life after having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend, or cases similar to that.

Other than that I really don't care about the rights of these people.

as far as being publicly listed? No, it's not a bad thing. It appears that quite a few are repeat offenders or have multiple counts against them.

Either way, it's good to keep the Chesters' whereabouts documented for the normal people to see.
