Quarter Life Crisis.
 

Ok, for all you folks in your 20's are you having a ''quarter life'' crisis?
Feeling and looking back that you've missed out on alot and should have done more ?
Just wonderng.

Hell yea, glad I am not alone. Getting ready to turn 26(the upper 20s) and with nothing concrete enough to show for it yet, except student loans to pay off, and a dream of future employment that is not going forward like it should. But I guess at least I have a concrete set dream for myself, thats more than some my age have.

Reason I asked is that I've been feelin' ''Old'' lately (after reading the atari thread and recently finding choplifter for the atari 7800 in a neglected part of the garage.) Im going on 24 and boy, I've missed out on a lot and life seemed to have tossed me around a bit, thus I have had to reschedule some of my goals, and had to scrap some for good.

I'll gladly trade places with one of you whipper-snappers!

Try being 41 and on the slippery slope to real fucking old age.

I think if today you are under 30, it would be a surprise not to make it to at least 100. Even I, at 33, will be disappointed if I don't live to 100, and I hope to make it to 125 or even more. Ray Kurzweil once famously said that if you can live to 2025, you will be able to live forever. I don't know that he's right about that, but he definitely understands the trends.

you want to live to be 125? You probably wouldn't even realize that you're alive at that point.

Yeah, I've had that feeling for years... A lot of nights I'd stay up all night and hate myself, knowing I was wasting my life.

Hell, I'm 26 years old and I still don't have anything more than an asociate's and a a few part-time jobs to show for it.

Luckily, I've got a career goal in mind now and if that doesn't pan out, then I'll have the credentials to take up something else (or so I hope)

Beats the alternative. Honestly, I'm just hoping to live long enough to be able to download my consciousness onto the internet.

I really am looking forward to the alternative. I've heard it's nice there. :)

I understand that point of view, and it would be incorrect to say that I fear death or am not curious about the afterlife. My particular theology says that life is the most precious gift I have been given, so, logically, I think it a good idea to cling to it as long as possible, even if I need somebody to change my diapers at some point.

You must have good life insurance, then. Down pillow, cherry wood casket? ;)

Crap! Crap! Crap! I was talking about ages with my wife and daughter and one of them mentions that I'm 42. How did I forget that considering my birthday was like two weeks ago - not that I make a big deal about birthdays.

So it's true - the first thing to go is your memory . . .

It reminds me of the guy who goes to the doctor and the doctor says that he has two lots of bad news.
"What's the first bad news?" says the guy.
"You've got cancer."
"That's terrible! What's the other bad news?"
"You've got alzheimer's."
"Oh, thank goodness. I thought I had cancer."

This is such a fuckin' pity party. Stop regretting the past and start living for now and the future. Sheesh.

I've been expecting myself to hit a bump like that for a few years now, but so far so good.
