FM 2005 Bug Question

Sorry to cloud this forum with this question, but I couldnt find it over at SI Games....

Occasionally, after a goal, the game will freeze mid-match. All the buttons work, but the game will not continue! This REALLY sucks as you can't save in the middle of a match, and it doesn't happen all the time, so I save as much as possible, but you know how long this game takes to save. I just started playing this game again, and I seem to remember this bug before could be remedied, by generating the match "report" then hitting "Play". However, that hasn't worked and I hit this issue twice in the last two days. I have what I believe is the latest patch from 2005 (5.0.5).

Anyone still playing this, or remember this issue?

I still play FM 05 frequently. When it "freezes" up on me, I just wait a minute or two and it resolves. I've never had it completely freeze without eventually resuming.

I'm talking during an actual match... not just a slow "Continue" button push. Right after a goal, it just never restarts... it's happened twice in two days, and I remember it happening many times previously.

How long have you waited...to upgrade to FM06?

I used to have that problem too. I waited a few minutes and it would fix itself.

I let it sit for 25 minutes last night... nothing happened....

Yeah yeah... i'm traveling for a living, so I'm not home much to get shipments. Plus, last time I upgraded from CM01 or whatever to CM4, I was just so darn disappointed. Don't want to get that feeling again!

My personal feeling is that there is some sort of memory leak in the match engine of FM05 that was never fixed. I think this assumption is backed up by the fact that they just fixed a similar problem for FM06.

I was talking right after a goal as well. I've never had to wait longer than 3 minutes, but sometimes I wondered if it would ever contiinue. 25 minute wait sounds bad.

Have you tried turning off the sound? I think there should be a checkbox on the Preferences page to allow you to turn it off. I have no idea if that will help, but that might be something else to try.

Also, how are you viewing your matches? Are you watching just highlights or the whole match? Or do you have the 2D turned off and only have the text commentary? You might try changing those settings as well to see if you can get it to work.

No sound already, and just highlights. I just realized I could get commentary only, may try that.

This used to happen to me with WWSM05, and I'd replay the last goal - typically after that it'd kick back in.

how do i view the replay? i don't have that box checked... but if they're available on demand... ?

The 'freeze' problem was extremely rare (which is why it took a while to track down and fix) but was fixed in one of the patches for that version.

If you haven't got the patch installed then it wasn't 'fatal' - to unlock the match click on a goal or an incident in the match report and it'll start to play that back, exit it and hit play and all will be well.

I've got the latest patch for that version (I believe 5.0.5?). But thanks for the work around!
