What is up with full circle black eye shadow?

Okay, I didn't know how to phrase it correctly, but at what point did women decide they wanted to look like they've been up all night on a cocaine binge? It really irks me. What I'm talking about is the fashion, which has been around for at least 4-5 years now, to outline yoiur eyes completely in black. It's so damned unattractive. Resume normal programming.

McSweeny 03-05-2006 07:29 PM

personally i think it's wicked hot

Easy Mac 03-05-2006 07:30 PM

Racoons are fucking sexy... that tail is like a hypnotic turnon

Desnudo 03-05-2006 07:38 PM

McSweeny, just for saying wicked hot, you've made this thread worthwhile. Don't get to hear that very often in Seattle.

JonInMiddleGA 03-05-2006 07:40 PM

McSweeney -- in that first image, is that dude missing like half his right arm?
(serious question, cause I don't have the slightest idea who that guy is)

Desnudo 03-05-2006 07:53 PM

TK, where's the insight? Thanks.

Hurst2112 03-05-2006 07:54 PM

this thread contains 2 pics of guys I don't listen to. amazing!

Rizon 03-05-2006 08:05 PM

I know a couple of women that had it tatooed on. It was very much not sexy.

PackerFanatic 03-05-2006 08:07 PM

Tatooed the circle? Ouch...that has gotta hurt.

Oh.
I wasn't referring to the black eye shadow thing.
I was referring to JIMGA not knowing Mike Ness/Social D.

The black eye shadow...I'm not sure who started it, but it's been a trend for awhile. Good Charlotte were doing it before they made it really big (i.e. when they were still a local band in MD).

Haha, I meant why do women do it? ;)

st.cronin 03-05-2006 08:11 PM

Doesn't this go back to Ally Sheedy, at least?

Eh, punk wasn't really my thing when it was new, no sense of loss here now that it's been done to death & back again.

I spent enough hours listening to Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, etc. (thanks to a couple of friends who were into that) to qualify me for the proverbial T-Shirt though.

JPhillips 03-05-2006 08:15 PM

Jon: You and I agree on nothing, but I'd ure as hell like to get drunk on Knob Creek with you and play the fuck out of some Dead Kennedys. That would be a one-in-a-lifer for me.

Because Vogue and the other fasion magazines decided it would be cool to trick women into putting that crap all over their eyes trying to achieve the "smoky eye" look...

Well, that and it accentuates your eyes, making you look emaciated...

The "thin" look is in, after all...
