Board Upgrade - Report Issues Here
 

I plan to upgrade the FOFC message board software to the latest version of vBulletin on Saturday Morning (Eastern Time).

The board will be offline while the upgrade is happening. If there are any unforseen problems, I will post details at Skydog's forum and the front page of this site.

Most of the forum styles will be unavailable for a short time until we can reimport them into the new software.

Among other things, this upgrade should get rid of the extraneous characters when cutting and pasting from Microsoft Word. :)

Users may have trouble logging in after the upgrade but I will try to resolve that as quickly as possible.

the new style is strange...info along the top instead of on the side. is that editable in our CP?

Sweet, now the thread list doesn't jump to the top everytime you go back, it remembers where you were. I can now surf the 1st page 23% faster.

Hmm.. doesn't seem like it.. I just checked my profile, it was set to Left... so I saved my profile and went to check a thread.. still info still listed at the top. I go into my profile and set it to top just to see if there's a difference.. nope. Even changed it back to Left, still listed at top.. hmmm

The board seems faster now. Maybe it just because there isnt much traffic yet...

You might ask Simms, I remember this happening with FOBL the last upgrade.

Ryan, post details are on top now, though in User CP options I have placed it on the left. Is there something new or different I have to do to get poster details on the left?

So did I. Now I have to reload to see which threads I've checked and haven't been updated (sometimes I will read a thread, hit back, and it will have been replied to again already), to refresh the list, etc. The other way was very convenient.

Hmmm. I have my WYSIWYG editor on, but when I hit "enter" to create a line break it does not show in my post. There shuold be two line in between this sentence and the last.

And now it works.

Well, that sucks. The editor tools don't work in Firefox, which means to use them, I have to switch to IE (where the ads bombard me).

This was worth losing part of a Saturday for? :p

It's also interesting that a different set of smilies displays based on the browser I'm using (the classic tongue smiley in Firefox, the crappy pink one in IE).

I get the crappy new smilies in Firefox, so that might indeed be a cache issue.

Not here. I activated them in Firefox and they wouldn't work, but when I went over to IE they worked fine.

Are you using WYSIWYG or the default editor?

The editor tools work when you allow gamespy scripts to be run.

However, signature size has an *inverse* relationship.

This board update is great :D. I especially like the edit feature now (and no, I'm not being mean to jbmagic). And things are far faster. Well done!

Same here. it's set to top but is on the left.

Top/Left can be set globally in the admin panel, but it applies to everybody. To make it a user-level option requires additional hacking, which has not yet been fully implemented. I think Ryan's planning to work on that.

Where are my line feeds. I'm entering white space between these lines, and it keeps on disappearing. I want my whitespace back!!
