Microsoft Word Bug???
Ok this has bugged me for years (pardon the pun) now and Im just curious If this happens to others. Sometimes when I am writing a paper using Microsoft Word it will lose the ability to delete letters or add letters to words properly. For instance, if I mispelled "hapens" and attempt to add an extra p it will just delete the p thats already there and add the new letter in its place. Also, when I attempt to add spaces it will begin to delete things instead of adding extra space. Im not sure if I am explaining this right but it pisses me off and is only alleviated after I restart MS Word. Is there anything I can do?

Press the 'Insert' key to move from overwrite mode to insert mode.

No, a bug is when they actually put "The" in front of Ohio State Univ.

You're accidentally hitting the Insert button, located right next to delete on any keyboard i've seen. |

I already have a graduate degree from UNC. Didn't think I needed a degree from an overgrown junior college. :) |

That's it - insert toggles this mode. If you look at the status bar, you'll see either 'OVR' or 'INS', that's the indicator. |
Thanks guys, that has bothered me since High School.

so, for once it's not a bug, IT'S A FEATURE!!!!! and Daivd Winter rejoiced :D

You might also be accidentally clicking on part of the bottom screen -- there's an area there that toggle between insert and OVR.

The same has happened to me, and the first time it happened it took me a while to figure out that I had accidentally hit the Insert key. So don't feel bad.

I hear that University of Michigan students actually know how to use the insert key.... ;)
