Looking to buy a new Desktop
 

Not an expert in this area so hoping a few people on here might now of what I should looking out for instead of getting roped in to buying something I don't need. I would like the computer to be able to last at least a couple of years. I currenlty use my laptop for text sim games like FM, NHL:EHM, OOTP, FOF, and TCB (possibly soon). NHL: EHM for instance runs but is a bit slow on my 1.4 Ghz 256 RAM machine. I do not normally play other games but I wouldn't mind having an EA Madden or hockey game on there. I also use the computer for storing photos and movies from my digital camera.

This is the first computer I looked at and included printer and LCD monitor:

I would prefer to have 3.0 Ghz or higher but this seems to be in the budjet right now. I have seen cheaper 3.0 ghz desktops but they did not come with a monitor which I also need.

Just curious if anyone has any suggestions being close to price as the above. Keep in mind that these ae Canadian prices.

If you can, I'd recommend getting an Athlon processor. I just recently got a new computer from Velocity Micro, and it is wonderful (though, admittedly, out of your current price range.. but they do have a $1000 model, if you want to check it out):

I just bought (2 weeks ago) this same Desk Top. I am very pleased with it and could not find anything close in price (from Dell or HP).

My FM & EHM life are much better. Seasons fly by.

On my FM game I wanted to give my new baby a test run and started with 28 leagues. I ran the game on Holiday mode for 7 hours one morning and it zipped through 5 seasons. I am now managing in the Conference South and dont even notice the process time going day to day.

No real suggestions just wanted to chime in on how much I love my new puter.

Are you talking about the one that I posted or the Velocity model?
