User name question

I have very much enjoyed lurking from time to time in the past and don't post much as I seem to suffer from cyber shyness. However, I can't help myself this time as I am very curious about screen names...some are obvious, but others seem like they would have a good story behind them. Thought I would go ahead and ask thus sparring my hubby, SkyDog, with the repeated question "Do you know why his screenname is such and such?" My apologies if this has been asked before.

On my end, it just seemed natural as that is apparently how Ben has referred to me from way back. I would like to go on record as stating that I have learned all my dictatorial ways from the master. ;)

Also, while I am here...just want to say that I must give mad props to the intelligent humor on this board (never thought I would get to talk about intelligence in a sentence that contained the phrase "mad props". That was fun). And thank you for the entertaining read in the Maximum Football thread!

Anthony 03-21-2006 04:40 PM

being from NYC, i like anyone who uses the phrase "mad props". you're ok in my book. word to mutha.

Franklinnoble 03-21-2006 04:44 PM

Yeah, I think we've done this thread before - but it's probably lost in the archives.

Franklinnoble 03-21-2006 04:45 PM

Oh, and my ID here is no great mystery. Franklin is my first name, and Noble is my middle name.

Chubby 03-21-2006 04:46 PM

I've said it before I'll say it again.

This won't end well...

albionmoonlight 03-21-2006 04:48 PM

To answer your question:

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...1201449&itm=18

I was very into this book/author when I picked my screen name.

Draft Dodger 03-21-2006 04:54 PM

I'm a boob man

Blade6119 03-21-2006 04:58 PM

In all honesty, when i was 5 i was(and still am) way into hockey. At the time my father asked me to pick a AOL SN...so we deduced blade from the blade on a hockey stick. Its not from the damn wesley snipes movies, i had my name before those were made. 6119 was my bus number at the time for school. As i grew up, it stuck with me. Thank you for your time.

MikeVick7 03-21-2006 04:59 PM

Mike Vick is my favorite NFL player n' stuff.

Now I don't care about the NFL as much as I once did and so that kinda leaves me in my own purgatory. College football is where it's at.

Lorena 03-21-2006 05:04 PM

I think mine is pretty obvious.

I should say that I USED to be a Dodgers fan until the O'Mally's sold the team; I don't really care for them much anymore. I used the name so much that it just kinda stuck now.

hoosiergoody 03-21-2006 05:05 PM

My roommate in college had my same first name, so I was always Goody. Of course there were the jokes- Goody-two-shoes, Good-for-what, and my favorite, up-to-no-Good. Being from Indiana, I choose Hoosiergoody. And yes, for the record, I do know hoosmy mommy and daddy...

HerRealName 03-21-2006 05:06 PM

Pet name from a relationship I had.

Groundhog 03-21-2006 05:08 PM

My username came from when I forgot the password to my original nick that I used on the fbbgames.com forums, which was Goose. I no longer had access to the e-mail account that was attached to it, so I created a new profile. I happened to be listening to the Primus track 'Groundhog's Day' at the time, so I chose that. I came across a link to the FOFC from those forums so I decided to keep the same username on both forums.

Schmidty 03-21-2006 05:11 PM

My name's Jason Schmidt, but just about everyone calls me Schmidty.

pennywisesb 03-21-2006 05:12 PM

When I first signed up for AOL IM I was really into the band Pennywise but that name was already taken, so I added the initials of the city I went to college in, Santa Barbara, and came up with PennywiseSB. I'm not too into the band anymore, but the name has just stuck and I use it for most every website requiring a user name.

Pumpy Tudors 03-21-2006 05:17 PM

I like bounty hunters.

JeeberD 03-21-2006 05:19 PM

Back when I was living in Denver one of the newspapers there ran a comic strip that had a character named Wilberforce. Well, for some reason my older brother decided that I reminded him of this Wilberforce character and bastardized my first name (Jeremy) with Wilberforce to come up with Jeeberforce (and why Jeeberforce instead of Jerberforce or Jeremyforce is beyond me).

Well, Jeeberforce stuck with me for a few weeks. Then it started to mutate. One day my brother called me Jeeber instead. And that got changed to Jeeber D Mack for some reason. Then that got shortened to Jeeber D. Jeeber D stuck with me pretty well, but even that has mutated into Jeebs, Jeebers, and JeeberMonkey.

Anyways, when I first got on the internet I always went with JeeberDMack as my name. That got too long and cumbersome after a while, so now I go by JeeberD pretty much everywhere.

Raiders Army 03-21-2006 05:21 PM

My name is actually Raiders Army. I thought your name was SWMBO?

GrantDawg 03-21-2006 05:21 PM

I look like a cross between Hugh Grant and bulldog, except with no hair.

(Not really, but it makes a funny visual).

Young Drachma 03-21-2006 05:22 PM

Umm..I saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and named everything at that time (including my screen name) as that during that time frame and well...its just been with me ever since.

WVUFAN 03-21-2006 05:23 PM

I'm a fan of West Virginia University sports.

So, WVUFan. Get it? :)

Eaglesfan27 03-21-2006 05:30 PM

Mine wasn't very original (and that was before I even realized there was an original Eaglefan.) I was 27 when I joined the board, and have been a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles since my grandfather and I first starting watching games when I was 4 or 5.

Trolling under a second account, BANNED! ;)

NoMyths 03-21-2006 05:38 PM

NoMyths. A few puns:

1) I'm a poet. Further, I cannot abide Greek mythology in poetry. Thus, a kind of mini ars-poetica.

2) Once upon a time there was a song called "No Myth" by Michael Penn, and since a) I liked the song; I was also in like seventh grade and b) his last name is my nickname (though minus the extra "n").

3) Something about the idea of troof, as it's called.

Whaddyaknow... never noticed the 2nd 's' in your screenname before.

cartman 03-21-2006 05:43 PM

Respect my authoritah!

AlexB 03-21-2006 05:50 PM

In the 90's Jari Rantanen was briefly a cult hero for Leicester City, my main sports team (closely followed by the Dolphins in support and false dawns, which explains my presence here) who was known as the Flying Finn. Ironic nickname of course - he was about 20 stone and had the aerodynamics of a breezeblock, and as he was not the standard football size, he had to have his shorts specially made. I had to think of a user name for the LC FC boards, and while drunk came up with this.

I'm an uncomplicated guy, and try and make life as easy for myself as possible, so use this now wherever I register (and, as I've found, where it fits).

It is nothing to do with Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls as someone once asked me, although it would probably reflect better on me if it was :)

AlexB 03-21-2006 05:55 PM

Dola, if, like me, it takes a while to connect changed user names, Chris's post in the 2003 is hilarious - sounds like a plain, straighforward unprovoked assault :D

Karlifornia 03-21-2006 05:55 PM

Before my teen years, I mainly listened to rap music, but then Nirvana was introduced to me by a friend, and they were my favorite band for a while. I moved on to other music eons ago, but I guess I can't change my name now.

Named for one of the best PC football games EVER made.

Bubba Wheels 03-21-2006 06:03 PM

In the mid-70s Detroit had a WFL team called the Wheels. Its QB was someone named Bubba Wyche and even though the team went 1-13 only to fold before the end of the first season they had pretty cool uniforms! But I guess the name should have been Bubba's Wheels to be more grammatically correct.

I think you have to be dead to be a saint. I'm not dead yet, but I expect to be someday, so keep it up, you never know.

EagleFan 03-21-2006 06:15 PM

Mine's fairly obvious. I'm a Cowboys fa....... argh, I can't even joke about liking the Brokeback Dallas Cowboys.

tarcone 03-21-2006 06:15 PM

I used the 1st initial from myself, my wife, and my 2 daughters (tarc) and the first 3 letters of my last name (one) thus i am tarcone

I created this account to respond to a post made by John Kerry a few years ago, and have been using it ever since. Also, George W. Bush was taken, so thats why there is no period in my name.

Toddzilla 03-21-2006 06:37 PM

I'm boring - it's just my first and last name, Todd + Zilla.

jeff061 03-21-2006 06:39 PM

061 are three randomly generated characters created while I was signing up for Yahoo about 10 years ago. Not sure how it stuck so long, as I never used Yahoo for communicating.

oliegirl 03-21-2006 06:42 PM

I bought my son a cat for his 3rd birthday and let him name her - he picked Rolie Polie Olie from the Disney show by the same name...After a couple weeks he mercifully allowed us to shorten it to Olie, which then morphed into Oliegirl (because she is a girl cat)...I like the way it sounds, so when I needed a screen name, that is what I picked :)

Farrah Whitworth-Rahn 03-21-2006 06:56 PM

I don't remember how I came up with my username.
