A recent report that suggested Chinese women are growing larger breasts made headlines around China. But bra producers say it isn't news to them, saying they have been producing larger cup sizes for over a year.

One such company, Hong Kong-based Embry Group, began reacting to the trend last year by halting production of small-sized bras for some of its products. "We don't produce A-cups for some bras with larger chest circumference now as demand is low", said an official with Embry.

"At the same time, we increased production of C, D and E-cup products and also found sales booming", she said.

A saleswoman with another brand said she's surprised to find many women today under the age of 20 need bras with C, D or even E-cups. "It's so different from the past when most young women would wear A- or B-cup bras", she said.

A member with another company's research department said: "For a time we only made A and B-cup bras for many categories of products but now C-cups have become a major focus especially in big cities like Shanghai and Beijing".

While there are no numbers to prove breast are growing quicker in large cities than underdeveloped areas, people say they have noticed the trend.

The Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology released a report last week saying the average chest circumference of Chinese woman has hit 83.53 centimeters, up nearly 1cm from the early 1990s. The growth is credited to women taking part in sports and eating more.

It's called "hormones in food."

In other news, the stock of companies making food hormones doubled over the past year.

my first reaction to the association of asian women with big breasts was... "could life get any better?" But now that I think of it, petite body size (and the accompanying smaller breast sizes) really are a part of the appeal of asian women. Its not that its their most appealing physical characteristic, but its a part of the package. I don't think you can mix-and-match physical charactersitics of other races (Mr. Potatohead style) and still have an asian woman. It just wouldn't be the same.
