Apparently, it's only being shown in Canada, as Powerade is a US sponsor of the NHL.

Not normally a fan of the hokey, athlete in commercials crap...but this is REALLY well done.

As someone who never played hockey...what's up with throwing your stick in a pile?

Picking teams...you separate the sticks into two piles, those are the teams.

It's a good way of picking teams. After throwing sticks into the pile, you separate them into 2 piles. You then have your 2 teams.

Cool. So do the people doing the picking try to recognize the good players sticks or is it supposed to be random?

It's supposed to be random.

Having done it numerous times while playing at the park, since it is random you always have those moments where after everyone grabs their stick you look around and go... "Ugh, this is not going to be pretty."
