NEW YORK (AP) - Steve Howe, the relief pitcher whose promising career was derailed by drug and alcohol abuse, died Friday when his pickup truck rolled over in Coachella, Calif. He was 48.

Too young.

Ohhhhh...got chills hearing this story considering he was brought up a number of times when we were discussing Ricky Williams and his problems. I honestly thought he would die of drug related issues, but it is still sad regardless.

Antmeister beat me to what I was gonna say... if he died young, I figured it'd be of a drug overdose.

Damn, that really, really sucks. :(

There's no guarantee that substance abuse wasn't a factor in the accident.

Oh man, I really, really hope not.

Wow, one of those player names you recognize from growing up.

Very good reliever, who could have been great!

MrBug708 04-28-2006 06:48 PM

Wonder if he was headed to the concert there?

I was thinking the same thing as well. My next thought was you could have just as easily replaced his name in the story and this tragedy with Gooden or Strawberry:(
