CNN) -- Two police officers are in critical condition after a shooting Monday at a police station in Fairfax County, Virginia, according to police and FBI sources.A Fairfax County police source said the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Sully District Station, in the western part of the county.
One of the gunmen was wounded and taken into custody, sources said, and a second fled and is being sought.
The U.S. Park Police said one of its helicopters was aiding in the search.
Authorities said the suspects carried handguns and automatic weapons.

This explains why somebody at work sent out an email saying that traffic at Rt. 28 and 50 was at a standstill.

I wish the news wouldn't pre-empt programming, though, with "coverage of the shooting" when they have nothing to report ("The police aren't saying anything to the media yet, but we'll stay with this, showing you the outside of the police station...")

They are now saying that they think that 1 officer may have died. No confirmation on this yet.

:(.... Scary to think that the officers are not even safe at the police precinct.

I was at a gas station about a mile away getting my car inspected when it happened. In the 20 minutes it took to get my car inspected, 35 police cars and 8 ambulances went by. I don't think I've ever seen such a large and fast response before.
