changing positions
A lot of times really good centers drop in the draft while mediocre gaurds and tackles are taken. most times you can grab the center and change his position to G or T, but there are already so many ways to expoit the AI, so I try and limit this. What does everybody else think?

How much does the player's ratings drop when you switch from C to G/T?

It varies, sometimes 20-30 %, sometimes not at all, esp if you move from C to G

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit disappointed by this thread... From the title, I was expecting something much juicier...:D

He's a noble platypus, not a nympho platypus

You know, from your reply, I've just realised his name wasn't papyrus... I'd always read it that way... |
Dola.
What does "platypus" actually mean ? |
Its a funny fucking animal
A semiaquatic egg-laying mammal (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) of Australia and Tasmania, having a broad flat tail, webbed feet, and a snout resembling a duck's bill. Also called duckbill, duck-billed platypus. |

Speaking of positions, I'm thinking this animal must be able to do some interesting things with that snout of his...

Um....not to be on topic or anything....but if you change a position - say from RG to LG and the player loses some ability, does he lose even more ability if he goes back to RG? Does he gain it back? Is it lost forever?
You could conceivably take a great player and whittle him down to nothing just by repeatedly changing positions. Don't know if it works that way in practice or not, but it wouldn't seem realistic. |
Loses talent i think
and you can only change positions 3 times now, b/c you used to be able to create great players the way you described. |
I don't think this is a huge exploit myself (maybe if you use TCY draft files?). I agree the centers in the draft that are left are better than guards and tackles, but the switch results with them losing enough potential and skill that it's not worth it. There may be exceptions to that, but when I've tried it I generally end up with a guy who's about the same as the guards and tackles that were available anyway.

Hmm. Kind of sucks then. Just goes back to the whole position definition/playing out of position question then I guess. Especially for the O-line. I mean, there are guys that will play almost all the positions in a year to adjust for injuries IRL....maybe future versions can just include players' ratings at different positions, at least somewhere where we can see it. I've seen many baseball games do the same. |
I don't think it's cheating either. I don't think the computer teams do this, but in the NFL you'll see it from time to time due to injuries.

Dont forget how incredibly noble it is. Those of you who have seem Dogma will understand. |
Reviving this thread to be maybe a bit more ON topic, how about having a rating for 'snaps' for centers ? This seems to me to be the major difference between a C and T, no ?
