FOFC 2006 World Cup Pool
Official Scoreboard
Alright, I'm participating in a few of these on different boards, so I thought it would be fun to bring it over here. Read the rules below and post with your entry if you would like to play. - You select at least 3, but no more than 5, teams from the list of teams below. Each team has an assigned dollar value and you have $100 to spend. The combined value of your selected teams may not exceed $100. - Points are earned based on how well your selected teams fare. The player who gets the most points wins. (duh) - Players may post their selections at any time prior to the kickoff of the first game. - Changes may be made prior to the first kickoff, but please do so with a new post instead of editing your previous post. There is no guarantee I will see the edit. - No two players may select an identical set of teams. - Tiebreaker will be the shirt number of the player scoring the final goal (whether in regulation, overtime, or a shootout) of the final match. Closest to the number wins. If the tiebreaker ends in a tie, the player who posted their picks first wins. Personally, I'd make Brazil $60. :D
I'll go: Brazil Italy. Australia Sweden. And no 9. Subject to change before you finalize this right ? |
This looks like fun. I'm going to go with the European squad of
Czech Republic (40) Croatia (30) Germany (30) 25 I'm hoping to hit a winner since getting a bunch of teams out of group play will net a lot of points as well. |
remember to include a jersey number for tiebreaker
|
What's the deal with the no editing rule?
|
that was in there from the rules I stole. :) but it doesnt matter since all picks have to be in before the games start anyway. I suppose it was since no two people can have the exact same teams, if someone tries to edit and say they had it first?
|
I am going to go with:
Brazil (50) Czech Republic (40) Poland (10) and 11 for the tiebreaker. |
Woops - sorry, I made an edit before I read the whole rules - is that kosher ?
|
yeah its fine

I thought they were #4 in the newest ones? Nevertheless, they should be $40 if they were #5? |

They dropped to 5th in the latest ones. |

Maybe I should have bolded the word partially :D |

Tiebreaker #7 |
Dola,
And I hate to be pedantic to those that have written this, but Jersey didn't qualify and the word will play no part in the WC. In football (soccer) the word is 'shirt' ;) |
Brazil
Spain Poland #10 |
Brazil - 50
Germany - 30 Ukraine - 10 Poland - 10 # 7 |

this combination has already been selected, choose again. :) |
Man, I knew I needed to hurry. Was going to look up some jersey numbers, but instead went with the conventional wisdom from before me just so I could get those three teams before someone else.
|
first 25 entries added to the chart. let me know if you notice any duplicate entries or if yours is incorrect

#10 seems like the easy choice for shirt number. First off, it's what Ronaldinho wears, so that's about a 50% chance of being it. :-p Other than that, almost all starting attacking players on all teams will be 9, 10, or 11. |
Yeah I didn't know numbers so I tried to read from the entries above mine what would be the safe choice. If I had the time I'd have looked up the info, but I didn't feel like I had time to do that. I really don't pay attention to the numbers people wear in general.
