FOFC Highlander #11 (6/1/06): Pumpy Pix RESULTS POSTED
 

For this version of the Highlander, we will look for Pumpy pix.

Pumpy Tudors posts 2.50 posts per day. For the sake of this exercise, we will assume that he will post anywhere from 1 to 5 posts per day. There is a 10% chance he will post one unique pic of himself in each of his posts.

Beginning today, June 1st, 2006, on what date will he reach 25 new pictures of himself on FOFC?

Please send me your guesses in PM. I'll run this until about 4:30 pm Eastern time. If anyone needs any clarification, please ask. Closest to the mark wins. In the event of a tie, I'll randomly select a winner. Everyone else ties for last.

Afternoon bump.

Just so you guys know, the answer should be a date, not a number. If you submitted a number, I'll take another PM.

Shameless one hour bump.

The results are in. Guesses ranged from August 3, 2006 to May 15, 2009. What some of you did not catch was that if Pumpy posted 1 to 5 times a day, he would average 3 posts per day, instead of 2.50. Because of that, the averages would not calculate to 100 days, but to 83.33 (repeating decimal of course) days. Interestingly enough, I did a run with Pumpy posting 0 to 5 times a day and he hit 25 pictures on September 6th which was the first guess I received from Butter of 69. Regardless, he posted 1 to 5 times per day and the results are below:


After a total of 90 days and 259 posts, Pumpy posted his 25th new pic on August 29th. While no one had it exactly, congratulations to Passacagalia who had August 24th, 2006, which was only five days off!

Honorable mention goes to Pumpy who believed that he would post his 25th new pic on August 19th. :)

Anyway, tonight and tomorrow are kind of bad times for me. I'm hoping to finish deciding on a new apartment tonight, then either tonight or tomorrow, I'm heading back to Grand Rapids for www.festivalofthearts.org -- I'll have a new one for Monday!
