What the hell? Did they just put movies up on a wall and throw darts at it?

Bubba Wheels 06-04-2006 07:39 PM

Three Amigos should be in the top ten.

Ksyrup 06-04-2006 07:39 PM

Zoolander! Ha!

cthomer5000 06-04-2006 07:39 PM

I didn't see it, but Meet The Fockers as the 25th funniest movie ever? come on.

Well shit, I guess I should have kept reading, because Zoolander in the 80s isn't a travesty compared to Dodgeball at 38!

Agree... some of these don't make a lot of sense to me.

Actually, that was the first oddball one that jumped out at me, too. I skipped it also, but thought the conventional wisdom was that it fell short of the original. *shurg*

Desnudo 06-04-2006 07:41 PM

Shrek?

Axxon 06-04-2006 07:41 PM

59. Police Academy Series

I missed this movie. Was it number 20 or 30? I lost count after the first couple.

st.cronin 06-04-2006 07:44 PM

The Wedding Singer, #7? It might be the 7th funniest Adam Sandler movie.

I think it gets major bonus points for having Drew Barrymore in it. I'd give bonus points for Drew anyway. Yum.

Crapshoot 06-04-2006 07:46 PM

Canadian Bacon ought to be on any list.

cartman 06-04-2006 07:47 PM

I hate when these lists don't have consistency. Sometimes they put all of the movies in a series as a single entry, and other times, they only use one of the titles. To me, it needs to be one or the other.

In this case they'd have to break them up or move some of the other movies off the list because now the list isn't 100 movies as advertised.

I thought the original was funny, but like you didn't bother with the sequel. While a lot of these types of lists are debateable, this one seems especially ridiculous.

Axxon 06-04-2006 07:54 PM

Just noticed the first omission that I think should be there.

Big Trouble in Little China.

GoSeahawks 06-04-2006 07:57 PM

Dumb and Dumber at #75- no way there are 74 movies funnier than this one.

Meet the Parents behind Meet the Fockers?!?!? No way Fockers should even be in the top 100.

Ksyrup 06-04-2006 07:58 PM

They put that White Castle movie, but no Better Off Dead? And WTF, no Fletch!?

Axxon 06-04-2006 07:59 PM

I agree with both of those too but I did like Harold and Kumar though.

Ksyrup 06-04-2006 08:01 PM

What's Manhattan? I can't recall that one, if I ever knew it.

Woody Allen movie.

Groundhog 06-04-2006 08:03 PM

Big?

It's the unfunny one. Oh wait, I already said it was a Woody Allen movie. ;)

I did like Zelig though and if he had to have a movie on the list that would be my choice.

Oh, I know the movie. I just don't remember it being quite that funny.... been a long time since I watched it, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't rolling in the aisles. It was more of a "fun" movie IIRC.

Groundhog 06-04-2006 08:12 PM

Also; no Baseketball on this list renders it nothing more than 100 LIES.

I agree. I'd put Bachelor Party over it but it's not even on the list.

I wouldn't actually put Bachelor Party on the list but I would choose it over Big.

Groundhog 06-04-2006 08:15 PM

61. Election

I really, really like this movie, but I would not call it "funny".

Lorena 06-04-2006 08:16 PM

I really enjoyed "Bean: The Movie", not sure it'll be a popular choice though.

Yeah, that was the problem with the list. Some of those movies aren't true comedies. And most of those romantic comedies shouldn't be on there.

Axxon 06-04-2006 08:18 PM

High Strung should be on the list too.

I vividly remember sitting up in bed late at night watching that movie, laughing so hard it hurt, trying desperately not to wake up my girlfriend, laying next to me.

Axxon 06-04-2006 08:22 PM

Also Noises Off.

I laughed so hard at the Squeek "I am not a piece of shit" scene that I almost passed out because I couldn't breathe. No movie has ever made me laugh as hard as this one. It's probably not even close.

It's an absolutely brilliant Woody Allen movie. Should have been higher.

Anyway, I saw this last week... and it seemed like they wanted to do the whole, put an old movie, the new movie, and seemed more based for a show than any internal consistency.

Schmidty 06-04-2006 08:31 PM

I love a lot of those movies (such as Wedding Singer), but I think this list is really random.

Schmidty 06-04-2006 08:32 PM

Dola.

How is "Arthur" more funny than "The Jerk". That's just idiotic.

You are insane.

MJ4H 06-04-2006 08:35 PM

Wow I don't think I've ever looked at a list like this and thought not only do I disagree with just about every approximate placing of every movie, but I can't even imagine an argument for any of them. This may be the worst list I've ever seen. Of any kind.

Maple Leafs 06-04-2006 08:36 PM

Even though its fan tend to over-rate it, Holy Grail needs to be higher than #40.

hukarez 06-04-2006 08:37 PM

I would've thought 'History of the World' would've made it onto this list somehow.

Or at least, Zorro: The Gay Blade with George Hamilton.

How can you see no arguement for Animal House and Caddyshack being 1 and 2?

MJ4H 06-04-2006 08:39 PM

Yeah thats about all I can see. Even though I hated BOTH, I can actually see the argument since I know a lot of others liked them, but there are MUCH funnier movies out there.

Ksyrup 06-04-2006 08:39 PM

I am outraged that Dracula: Dead and Loving It was left off this list!

OK, maybe not.

oliegirl 06-04-2006 08:42 PM

Young Frankenstein at #56? WTF? How can Dodgeball, Legally Blonde, Wayne's World, Bill and Ted, etc, etc, etc...be funnier that Young Frankenstein? That is classic comedy - Wilder, Kahn, Peter Boyle? It gets NO better than that movie as far as comedy goes. That is just wrong!

There is no such thing as a brilliant Woody Allen movie. The man is a hack.

Oh, and he married his daughter.

Shit, I sound sensitive.

By the way, yes I like Sandler. Insult my intelligence if you will, but his stupid movies make me laugh.
