Highlander #21: World Cup Edition
 

Welcome to Highlander #21, the game where each winner hosts the next game. The goal of a Highlander game is to create a small game where answers are pm'd to the host and, hopefully, only one person will win. There can be only one winner in Highlander.

I like this recent trend of simple games that don't involve a lot of math. Here is how this game is going to work:

I am going to select, at random, two numbers. The first will designate one of the 32 teams in the World Cup. The second will designate the jersey number of a player on that team.

All you have to to is guess a player and then pm it to me. To guess, just send me the player's name, and nation he plays for. So, for example, if you wanted to guess Dennis Oliech of Kenya (Kenya is not in the World Cup, btw, its just an example), then you'd simply pm me and say "Dennis Oliech, Kenya." Very simple. Please put your guess right in the title of the pm.

Assuming no one guesses the exact person, whoever is closest wins. Simple!

To recap, pm me a player's name and country in the World Cup, and put it in the title. That's it!


Now, for those of you interested in strategizing, here is how I will determine the closest:

1). If one guess is on the same team, that guess automatically wins.
2). If two or more guesses are on the same team, the one whose guess is closest by jersey number is the winner. So if I guess Kenya, Oliech who has jersey #5, someone else guesses Anakago, jersey #19, and th answer is Aloisi, jersey #16, then the Anakago guess wins. Squad numbers are not in a circle like country names are.
3). If no one guesses the right team, then whoever is on the closest team alphabetically wins. All 32 teams are listed alphabetically, and for this purpose, Angola (the first team) is next to Ukraine (the last team), making this list a circle.
4). If mutiple guesses are on the closest team(s), whoever's guess is closest by jersey number wins.

I inclue these rules so you can use some strategy if you so desire. If you don't want to, then just send me a name and country!
