Ok, I really am now convinced that Hollywood is out of ideas

To say that Hollywood is out of ideas anytime a sequel or remake is announced is a sort of cliche. But now I am convinced it is true, with the following example:

Race With the Devil
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073600/

This was a bad 70s movie, that had some stars in it's cast, namely Loretta Swit and Peter Fonda. I never would have seen this movie, except I caught it on TV on one of those day when I was home sick from school, and it was the afternoon movie that came on in the afternoon after the Green Acres, Gomer Pyle, and Gilligan's Island reruns came on. For some reason, there was one scene in the movie that stuck with me of a dead tree that framed one of the shots. Other than that, the movie was pretty forgettable.

Imagine my shock when I came across this on IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454924/

It just doesn't happen to have the same title, the plot is exactly the same. Un-friggin'-real.

It's getting so bad in Hollywood that when the recent Paul Walker vehicle 'Running Scared' was released I was shocked and severely disappointed when it eventually dawned on me that it wasn't a remake of the fantastic 80s movies of the same name, starring those icons of ACTION, Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines.

shine sweet freedom, shine the light on me. You are the magic, you're right where I wanna be.

I actually loved that Crystal/Hines version. I might actually put in my top 100.

I think it makes the most sense for Hollywood to redo poor to mediocre films as that way there is room for improvement. When redoing a great movie how can you hope to possibly top it?
