Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff is "fine" after undergoing surgery for an injury he suffered during a shaving accident, his rep said Friday.

Hasselhoff severed a tendon in his right arm while shaving in the bathroom of a gym in the Sanderson Hotel in London on Thursday. The actor hit his head on a chandelier, which showered his arm with broken glass, his publicist, Judy Katz, told the Associated Press.

Doctors operated on the injured tendon and Hasselhoff, 53, spent just one night at St. Thomas' Hospital in central London, Katz said.

"He's fine," Katz said. "He's out of the hospital and will resume filming tomorrow."

Hasselhoff is working on an ad campaign for Pipex, a British internet company, she said. He is also currently a celebrity judge on the NBC reality show America's Got Talent.

I am thoroughly confused, he was shaving, hit his head on a chandelier and the glass sliced a tendon in his arm? Don't chandeliers usually hang above you? Was he standing on a ladder while shaving? Jumping up and down? I'm sure someone here will be able to clear this up for me...

Name: David Hasselhoff
Height: 6' 4"

I'm that height too, and in some rooms the ceiling is so low that the hanging light can be something you hit if you don't know it is there.

I'm more confused about why he was shaving in the gym.

I'm more confused about why we're posting about David Hasselhoff.

Deattribution 07-01-2006 05:19 PM

I'm more confused by what kind of gym bathrooms have chandeliers.

Well, Schmidty made me the official gossip poster of FOFC, so I'm just doing my job :)

Actually, I thought the story was hysterical, but couldn't imagine how he managed to hit his head while shaving and the fact that they called it a shaving accident, when the razor had nothing to do with his injury. I just found the whole thing very comical...

[off-topic]What you read released by PR reps are not always accurately. In fact, they are rarely close to be anything but accurate. I can't imagine a profession that is so despicable and so deceiving (more than salespersons, lawyers, etc.) where you have to constantly lie just to maintain your client's image and to safe face. But most people want to believe what PR reps tell you.

Solecismic 07-01-2006 05:49 PM

Well, it doesn't say who he was shaving. That could explain it.

He will forever be Michael Long to me, no matter what his face looks like.

your 100% right. i bet this is what happened:
Mr Hasslehoff was shaving some guys rear in a gay bathhouse, when the BF of the shavee came in and saw the shinanigans and gay slaped mr Hasslehoff, knocking the razor out of his hand and cutting his arm ( or other tender locations).

Grammaticus 07-01-2006 11:10 PM

You know that David Hasslehoff, he's just larger than life.

Posted a new thread (deleted later), due to the title not being clear.

I'm curious though, did the glass go through his arm?

VPI97 07-01-2006 11:49 PM

European rooms are tiny...when I was in Helsinki a few weeks ago, the hotel room was as small as my walk-in closet at home. I could see a 6'4" guy having problems overseas.

mckerney 07-02-2006 12:50 AM

He should have just said it happened while washing Jeff Kent's truck.

Cringer 07-02-2006 12:58 AM

Damn, after that first line I thought the story was leading towards a nut-sack shaving accident.
