Bleugh.

Frozen strawberries. I just bought the damn things fresh. How the hell are they frozen now when I haven't touched my refrigerator's settings and I've never had strawberries freeze in there before?

Were they sitting close to the storage bin for something like meat/cheese, or similar specialty drawer? Sometimes there'll be some odd combination of humidty (which introduces additional moisture) and a sort of extra cold pocket of air because of some circulation problem in the fridge and volia - frozen foods in the refrigerator side.

I've had all sorts of stuff randomly freeze in the fridge, always within one shelf of the meat/cheese drawer thing.

Yeah, there's a crisper drawer right below it, but that's the same shelf I've always used for the strawberries and never had them freeze before.

I dunno how your fridge is configured inside so this might not make perfect sense but check to see if something is might be re-directing the flow of cold air straight down to the crisper drawer instead of having it circulate throughout the fridge like it's supposed to. On mine, the inflow comes from the upper left rear of the fridge (i.e. just above the top shelf) and apparently all it takes is a couple of tall things like milk & o.j. in the wrong spot to basically create a wall that leaves the air nowhere to go except straight down ... right into the opening at the back of the drawer. The air (which is coming straight from the freezer side) is just cold enough to freeze whatever it's hitting ... most recently in my case a brand new pack of Velveeta slices.

Trust me, some frozen & then re-thawed Velveeta is some nasty shit. It just sort of crumbles to little pieces when you unwrap it & it tastes about like the cellophane wrapper.

I'll take a look. All I could say with any certainty is that stuff goes in basically the same place every time, so if something has messed up the flow, I can't imagine what it might be.

This is fascinating.

I do enjoy a good blueberry, but there's not a berry on the planet I love better than a juicy (non-frozen) strawberry.

I like the flavor of strawberries, but everytime I've had them by themselves, they were so sour, it made my eyes squint.

They must have shitty strawberries up in Washington...
