This is just too much

It has been over 100 for over a week straight here (suburb 50 miles east of SF) but today is just absurd - it is currently 111 degrees.

last night when I went to bed at 11pm it was still over 90 and when I took my kids to soccer this morning at 9am it was already over 95.

MIJB#19 07-22-2006 05:35 PM

Could it be a sign of global warming?

SackAttack 07-22-2006 05:43 PM

Poor baby. It was 112 yesterday and it's hotter than that today - and that's a normal summer for us

duckman 07-22-2006 05:54 PM

We had 14 straight days of 100+ degrees until a cold front came through yesterday to drop it down to a chilly 92 today.

Lorena 07-22-2006 06:00 PM

I remember it being 100 degrees in the morning when we lived in Phoenix... not pretty at all.

Not really, appears to be more of a cyclical hot summer scenario thats been seen before and will likely be seen again.

Schmidty 07-22-2006 06:23 PM

It got up to 95 here yesterday, and it was 93 degrees today. That's insanely hot for this area.

RendeR 07-22-2006 06:40 PM

Here in Buffalo last summer it was 90 degrees for more days than its been in teh history of the region (or at least as long as they kept measurements) but this year its been cool.

These are the things that happen in life that you get to tell as stories to your grandchildren. Stop worrying about the heat, enjoy and take solace that you'll have stuff to talk about when you get old and decrepit.

Franklinnoble 07-22-2006 06:49 PM

About that hot in Placerville today... where are you at, Augustus?

Agreed... we need a break in this heat. Power was out here last night from about 8:00 pm until after 3:00 am. It made for a rotten evening.

Maybe you should head to the bay area... it's about 86 there today, I read.

KJDelaney 07-22-2006 07:05 PM

Big deal.

It cooled down today to 102. Tomorrow and for the rest of the week, we are looking at around 109-112.

Thank God we are moving to someplace cooler..........

Austin, Tx?

st.cronin 07-22-2006 07:07 PM

It's barely been over 90 here all summer.

I noticed your location will be Austin, gratz on the move!! Mind if I ask what's leading you here?

As far as Austin being cooler than Vegas... not too sure about that. It's a different kind of heat. The air here is heavy and it kinda reminds me of spending summers at the beach in Southern California. Not sure if you know this, but Antmeister and myself spent 3 LOOOOOOONG years in Phoenix and I hated every single summer. It was nasty and dry, I didn't like it.

I much prefer 100 here than 115+ in Phoenix.

Oh and we've been here for almost 3 months, so not too sure what the weather is like year round.

Lorena 07-22-2006 08:29 PM

dola,

We've been flirting with 100 degrees out here but at least it's sprinkling which I can't say happens out in the desert.

Lorena 07-22-2006 08:31 PM

dola,

after looking at the forecast, it'll be between 91-98 here for the next 10 days with possible showers for 4 of those days.

Cyclical hot summer scenario huh? I sure hope so but considering all things equal we better start to adapt to extremes in temperature soon as a species.

It's called air conditioning. It works for me.

That is why I keep scratching my head to all these chicken little's running around claiming this is a sign of our empending doom. If you look at these records that are being broke, most of them are from 100 years ago.

In 1916 how many leaking Air Conditioneers were there?
In 1908 did we have that big of problem with Aerosol cans?
And, I guess those 1898 trafic jams were a real pain in the but with hundreds of cars on the road.:)

Glengoyne 07-22-2006 10:19 PM

113 here today. It feels like Phoenix.

molson 07-22-2006 10:25 PM

The weather of an individual place and time has no relevance to the discussion of global warming.

But it's completely illogical to go from that point to "global warming doesn't exist",

I know, I generally throw the "global Warming", greenhouse gas, and ozone layer nuts into the same pile.

Besides everyone knows the world is comming to an end on December 21, 2012 anyway.:)

cougarfreak 07-22-2006 11:44 PM

Call Al Gore, he will tell you what the hell is going on.

You should just e-mail him. What do you think he invented the internet for?

Farrah Whitworth-Rahn 07-22-2006 11:50 PM

It was 117 here yesterday, 112 today. Come stay at Casa de Rahn in July and you'll soon learn what hot really is. ;)

LOL! Especially someone who's read the cheating thread...:p

AgustusM, we must live pretty close to each other. I'm in Tracy. Was wonderful working tonight, as the air conditioner in my store was broken. The thermostat said it was 98 in our store. We kept taking turns walking out into the mall where the a/c was working.

yep we are in Brentwood, less then 30 minutes away.

worst part of the heat for me is we were in football camp all week and I was standing in the direct sun for 4 hours on the turf every day - of course the players had it worse with full pads on.

It does a little bit more when two individual places at the same time, but 9 hours in time zones away are breaking the same kind of records.

It took Mrs. SpeechCoach 5 years before she stopped bitching every single day about how hot it is and how much better San Diego is during the summer. This summer has started the complaining again, and I can't disagree.

Galaxy 07-24-2006 12:23 AM

Is Arizona humid, or is it pretty dry?

Yup, really dry. So dry, in fact, that a mere crack of a smile can make your lips bleed.

AZSpeechCoach 07-24-2006 03:03 AM

Dry heat my ass! 118 is still 118!

I told Arlie he has two years. Two years to get me the hell out of this state, or buy me a vacation home somewhere cooler. Otherwise Baby Rahn and I are leaving and he can roast out here all by himself.

I tend to get a tad bitchy when I burn my hand on my seatbelt/steering wheel/everything.

We really haven't been back to San Diego that much this summer. If we could go back and avoid MSC's family, then we probably would be just fine. :)

Yup, agreed. I hated burning my hand on the handle of the car, then again on the steering wheel, and again on the stick shift. We couldn't even feel the air conditioner at times. I'm glad one of those summers I worked graveyard shift so I could avoid the nasty heat.

Oh yeah, San Diego is awesome around summertime. Seaport Village was the place to go during this time. Where else can you go shopping and be right at the beach? LLLLLOOOOVVVEEE IT!

My plan was to take Baby Rahn and spend the entire month of July with my parents in Santa Barbara. I stress that was the plan. Didn't really work out that way.

Yup. I keep trying to get MSC to take me back to Seaport Village, but we never seem to quite get there. Too bad I go back to the classroom in a week. :(

I had a friend that lived in Tracy about 10 years ago. He said the only thing to do out there was G and smoke weed.

I had to spend a whole day in that heat out in the Wood a couple of weeks ago. Not pretty.

I'm not sure Farrah would be into that, just think about what happened when Daivd worked on Maximum Football during his honeymoon.

I'm sad that I'm old enough that I have to infer what you were doing with his sister.
