What's your fave non-adult late night movie to watch on TV?

For me it has to be either Fresh or Hey Babu Riba.

They're two movies that keep coming up time and time again as I surf the television at night when I can't sleep and don't feel like reading.

Fresh is a story about a 12 year-old drug runner who ends up starting a gang war to save his older sister, who's a prostitute. Just a very slick, very nicely done film all along. Sean Nelson, who plays the titular character, is dynamite in this movie and Samuel L. Jackson is stellar as usual.

Hey Babu Riba is a Yugoslavian film from 1986 about four men who come together for the funeral of the woman all four of them loved. It's essentially a coming-of-age film, as it's more or less a giant flashback to the youth of the five. I'd describe it as a dark comedy, one that's extremely enjoyable.

I just found Hey Babu Riba on VHS the other day for $3, too, which I thought was a nice pickup. :D

Coincidentally (or not) I've seen Fresh about 8 billion times, including about two hours ago. Great flick.

Yeah it's playing on the Sundance Channel here right now. I agree, great movie.
