This is going to be a new, long-term dynasty (hopefully) that I plan to play with. Hopefully will be able to post an update every 3-4 days, depending on life and work schedule. And even if I don't update here, it will be something I continue to do offline for fun, because it took me a while to set this up and I would hate it to just die on me.

This will be a Mixed Martial arts dynasty, so if anyone would like to create a fighter in this, shoot me a PM with your email addy, as I have a long response already typed that goes into great detail about how I plan on running the sim, and how I plan on building the new characters. Anyway, on to the first few posts, which will be an introduction to the MMAFC.

January 1st, 2005-Las Vegas, Nevada

Welcome to the first press conference of the Mixed-Martial Arts Fighting Championship (MMAFC). My name is Michael Dervack and I am the owner and promoter of the MMAFC. We’re very excited to get started in the MMA field and are proud to announce who we are. First off, I’d like to thank Zuffa, LLC. for helping get MMA started in the United States. They have helped make the UFC a household name, and we hope to continue that. With that being said, we have decided to purchase a controlling interest in the UFC and will continue to push it to the mainstream.

While we would like to keep all the fighters that are currently on the UFC roster, however, in the interest of making the cards more eventful, and enjoyable, we have decided to pare down the number of fighters on the roster. The fighters that we have retained are some of the top fighters in the UFC, and some of the better up and coming fighters. But that’s not all.

On top of that, we have contracted some of the best fighters in the MMA world to fight in our organization. This is part of what this press conference is for. To introduce us, and to introduce everyone to the men who will be fighting for the MMA titles. We plan on having tournaments to establish the champions for each weight class. That is what the first year of the MMA is going to be about, introducing you to our entire roster, and holding a gigantic tournament to crown our champions. We have 5 weight classes, Lightweights, Welterweights, Middleweights, Light Heavyweights, and Heavyweights.

So, without further ado, let us introduce you to the first to 3 fighters we have signed to new contracts with the MMAFC.

First off, I want to introduce you to one of the top fighters in the world. The man stands 6 feet tall, and is one of the most dominant fighters in MMA. Hailing out of Russia, please welcome Fedor Emelianenko. Fedor being here immediately makes him one of the top contenders for the Heavyweight title.

Another fighter that plans on contending for a belt, this time the Light Heavyweight title, hails out of Brazil, and is a Ju-Jitsu specialist. One of the top Light Heavyweights in the world, Wanderlei Silva.

And joining him in the Light Heavyweight division, hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, is Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. Quinton is a street fighting expert always looking to throwdown and pound someone till they are out cold.

And there you have the big announcements. We have more fighters lined up, and everyone will be handed a press release before they leave to let everyone know who’s on the roster and what the rules are going to be. Thanks everyone for arriving, and we look forward to seeing you guys in the octagon.

Here are the plans we have for the organization.

All fights will be 3, 5 minute rounds. There will be 12 PPV’s a year, and 4 TV events for a total of 16 events a year. There will be 10 fights a card for most of the events, except the first event of each year, which will have 12. Also, during the opening tournament, most cards will have 12 bouts .

There will be a mandatory one month layoff between fights for every fighter. If a fighter is knocked out during his fight, he will be given a mandatory 3 month rest. Injuries can and will happen during fights. There will be 3 types, which will be minor, moderate and severe. A minor injury will heal in that one month layoff. A moderate injury will require 3-6 months, depending on a dice roll. A severe injury will require 6-12 months, again depending on a dice roll. The only exception to the one month mandatory rest and that is for title fights that end in a draw, or if there is a draw during one of the opening tournaments. If there is a draw in that case, as long as neither fighter comes out with an injury, there will be a mandatory rematch at the next PPV. If there is an injury, then the rematch will happen the next time that fighter is available to fight.

Because there will be retirements for fighters starting at the age of 41, and for fighters who lose 6 straight fights, I will introduce 5 new fighters every 6 months, one per weight class.

These are just the beginning of the rules, and more will be added as needed.

Now that you have the rules and the plans for the organization, I think it's time to announce the first 2 cards of the MMAFC.

Results of the first card, along with the announcement of two new cards and the first signing of a fighter will be posted tonight.

The first event of the MMAFC is in the books, and featured a few stunning upsets. Let's hope that the rest of the Cards in the opening tournament are as exciting as the first.

Marvin Guillard submits Sam Stout by Shin Lock at 4:30 of the 2nd round

In a great opening fight on the card, Guillard took some big shots from Stout and took him to the ground to get a Shin Lock on Stout. It was a very even battle till Guillard took Stout to the ground, and before Stout was able to close guard, Guillard got a hold of Sam’s shin and secured the lock.

Jesse Forbes TKOs Noah Inhofer at 1:19 of the 1st round

In what ended up being a very one sided fight, Forbes destroys Inhofer by a flurry of punches in the half guard, leaving Mario Yamasaki no choice but to stop the fight before Noah was seriously hurt.

Jeff Monson KOs Rulon Gardner with a Rear Naked Choke at 3:37 of the 1st round

In a another one sided fight, Jeff Monson showed that Rulon Gardner was no match for him by securing a RNC on him and choking him out cold when Rulon went out before he had a chance to tap.

Evangelista Cyborg steals a Majority Decision from Babalu Sobral

In a fight between a slugger and a submission expert, the experts expected Babalu to get win this event any number of ways. And with the amount of times the fight went to the ground, most in the audience thought the same. But the judges scored it differently, giving the fight to Cyborg, despite being takedown 4 times, and having 3 submission attempts tried on him. But apparently the judges were scoring it as a slugfest and since Cyborg did most of his damage standing up, it looks like that was the reason the fight was given to him. A big upset.


Aleksander Emelianenko wins by TKO at 2:29 of the 1st round

In what some thought would be the best fight on the card, ended quicker than Justin Eliers thought, getting caught early and often by the powerful strikes of Aleksander. Aleksander caught him with a hard punch that knocked Justin to the ground and Aleksander followed him there, finishing the fight with a flurry of punches that forced Mario Yamasaki to stop the fight.

Ricardo Arona wins by Unanimous Decision over Josh Haynes

This fight ends up as a 15 minute slugfest. Both Ricardo Arona and Josh Haynes fight the first 2 round for the most part on their feet, just throwing punches to try and knock each other out. Josh comes out for the 3rd round knowing he’s behind on the score cards and gets a quick guillotine choke on Ricardo, but he slips free and ends up countering with a Guillotine of his own. After Josh slips out, they both get to their feet and start throwing again, this time Arona came close to knocking Haynes out. But it went to the Judges after 15 entertaining minutes


Jeremy Horn wins by Unanimous Decision over Crosley Gracie

Jeremy Horn squeaks out a unanimous decision over Crosley Gracie in a great 15 minute war. With all the times Jeremy and Crosley went to the ground, most in the audience felt that the advantage would go to the Gracie Ju-Jitsu expert, but Horn showed that he can ground in pound while down there, and scoring the victory, moving him along in the tournament.

Paulo Filho submits Phil Baroni by Heel Hook at 4:03 of the 3rd round

Another slugger versus Submission fight, but this time it never made it to the judge’s scorecard as Paulo gets Baroni to submit to his 20th submission attempt, this time a heel hook late in the third round. Baroni was beating Filho in the standup, including stunning him at one point at the beginning of the 3rd round. But Filho regained his composure and got the fight back to the ground where he kept working for a submission victory and finally got it.

Quinton Jackson TKOs Mike Van Arsdale by Strikes at 2:16 of the 2nd round

The only way that Mike could win this fight would be if he got Quinton to the ground and get a Submission on them. Which he did early in the 2nd round. Unfortunately for him, Jackson was way too much for Van Arsdale as he started hitting him harder and harder as
Van Arsdale was securing the lock, forcing Mario Yamasaki to jump in and stop the fight before any more damager could be done.

Dan Henderson wins by TKO over Nathan Quarry at 2:55 of the 1st round

A highly anticipated fight between a grappler and a heavy hitter ended up being a one sided affair, as Henderson took down Quarry quick, and once taking him down, was able to get Quarry to give up his back. Once Dan took that, he starting pounding Quarry, stretching out Nate and blasting him on the side of the face until referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.

Branden Lee Hinkle wins by TKO over Bas Rutten at 3:10 of the 2nd Round

In what has to be the biggest upset on the card, Branden Lee Hinkle was able to ground and pound Bas Rutten enough to get Herb Dean to stop the fight midway through the 2nd round. On their feet, Bas had the advantage, striking blow after blow to both the head and legs of Branden, but once it got to the ground, Branden showed his ground and pound prowess, firing strike after strike till it was over.

Wanderlei Silva beats Michael Bisping via Rear Naked Choke at 0:57 of the 1st Round

In the main event of the evening, Wanderlei Silva proved why he is one of the men to beat in the Light Heavyweight division, getting Bisping to submit with a RNC in less than a minute. Silva came out swinging and hit Bisping with a cross that knocked him to ground, where Silva quickly got his back and worked for the RNC.

As I promised, the next two cards have been finalized in the MMAFC, and one will be our debut show on ESPN 39. That show will be on March 17, 2005, from the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL. MMAFC Fight Night 1 will feature the following card:

And finally, the MMAFC is proud to announce that they have signed Michigan Regional MMA champion Jeff 'Jellybean' Nights to a multi-year contract to continue his MMA career. The 26 year-old heavyweight will start off his MMA career in July versus Rulon Gardner. Jeff understands that while starting off small, he will work his way up the ladder pretty quickly in the MMAFC. We are looking forward to seeing this slugger step into the octagon.
