Upgrade issues thread

Please post any problems you see after the upgrade in this thread.

NoMyths 09-02-2006 09:15 AM

Yes, Subby still isn't banned. Rectify plx k thx.

Greyroofoo 09-02-2006 09:21 AM

My air conditioning is broke and I live in Alabama. Please fix.

gottimd 09-02-2006 09:23 AM

I had a pile of thousand dollar bills next to me and I pressed refresh and now its all gone.

EDIT: What exactly were the upgrades made?

hoosierdude 09-02-2006 09:38 AM

Looks like they upgraded from version 3.54 to 3.60 of vBulletin.

heybrad 09-02-2006 09:42 AM

Got here at 7:30 this morning to start the first full system backup then I'll be doing the slip install to get from V5R3M0 to V5R3M5. Then we'll run another full system backup and tomorrow morning we start the physical part of the upgrade.

Oh wait... you're not talking about the upgrade I'm doing this weekend?

Hey Brad!

Never realized you lived in Cypress. Small world, I'm from Stanton, but now live in Orange.

I probably should update my profile. I live in Corona now, but I've lived in both Stanton and Cypress. My first apartment was on Katella and Western (long ago).

thealmighty 09-02-2006 10:16 AM

It's probably only a problem for me, but the thicker white outlines around every post give me a HUGE fucking headache.

thealmighty 09-02-2006 10:17 AM

dola...

...sideline green style

Hah Briarwood Sqaure? I used to live in the ones between those and the railroad tracks, Aspen Pines.

Eaglesfan27 09-02-2006 10:23 AM

Am I only the one who is seeing a Red X and the words "view post" next to the name of each person who gets quoted?

daedalus 09-02-2006 10:26 AM

I'm with thealmighty as far as the thick white line on posts in the Sideline Green style.

I have it too. (using yellow)

AZSpeechCoach 09-02-2006 10:42 AM

Pages are taking a long time to load, and when I try to scroll down while loading, the stretching problem appears to be back.

Interesting. I'm seeing the fastest loading times I've seen in many months.

AZSpeechCoach 09-02-2006 11:01 AM

Surprisingly enough, it turned out to be just this thread. The rest of the board worked great. Maybe my computer just had to "absorb" the upgrade :)

Same here. I don't see Red X or anything by the person quoted, but I just clicked to quote you the tag says this: "quote=Eaglesfan27;1236187" -- I don't know what those numbers are. Looks new to me. We'll see what happens when I submit.

I'm usually on the FOFC VB style and it looks/works great.

Ah. Now I see. The numbers link to the orignal quote the post came from so you can reference the original post. Nifty upgrade.

But it does look like it performs differently on different skins. On the vB skin you just get a little arrow icon next to the quoted poster's name. On Yellow, I get View Post text but no icon.

gottimd 09-02-2006 11:19 AM

Yup, in yellow and I get the red x and view post.

Simms 09-02-2006 11:21 AM

Keep in mind that almost all of the non-default styles available here were created several versions of vB ago. As new versions come out, new functionality -- often requiring new images -- is added. These styles have not been maintained over the years.

On top of that, several of the styles here are/were only half-finished to begin with. With Ryan's blessing, I'm planning to look at updating some (probably not all) of the styles so that they work with the new vB functionality. The Sideline and Yellow themes are the priority, but depending on what kind of shape the others are in, I can't make any promises as to their continued availability.

This will, of course, be cause for panic and mayhem amongst a certain segment of the member base, so I wanted to get that out in the open well ahead of time. :)

stevew 09-02-2006 11:29 AM

Please don't kill OSX, the color scheme is the only one that doesn't seriously annoy me.

Yep, it was Briarwood Square.

FrogMan 09-02-2006 12:04 PM

kind of read this thread quickly and have not seen this reported but in yellow, the left portion of every post is of a different width, making the thread look really, really ugly. Before the upgrade, it was of one width all accross the thread...

FM

JeeberD 09-02-2006 12:13 PM

I'm not seeing that problem in yellow, FM...

Katon 09-02-2006 12:35 PM

I'm seeing it, but only when the poster's name is too long for one line & doesn't have any places to break - AZSpeechCoach in this thread, for instance.

JeeberD 09-02-2006 12:39 PM

Maybe it's because of my resolution or something, but AZSpeechCoach's box is the same size as everyone elses...

Now if LastWhiteSoxFanStanding posted in this thread there would probably be some issues...

Duncan, a former 1(1) pick, is one of the league's most controversial players, yet one of its brightest new stars in the making. This kid put up an 87.2 passer rating and threw for 30 TD's in only his second year in the league, and is now nearly fully developed. Shaun “The Solution” Duncan is best at Long Passes, Short Passes, Accuracy, Two-Minute Offense, and Shooting Off His Mouth. Doyle has only thrown 93 passes in the regular season, but put up a 100+ rating one preseason, if you're inclined to put any stock in that.

FrogMan 09-02-2006 12:50 PM

here's what it looks like

Also note the "add infraction for..." with the red X, have not seen this reported here, am I the only one with this kind of thing? Looks like the alt text with that missing icon is messing things up. The post above stevew is from Simms and I can't add an infraction for him...

FM

Ben E Lou 09-02-2006 12:51 PM

I'm able to post just fine from Word in other places using WYSIWYG. Is there a vbulletin setting that we need to change?

RE: Add infraction.

You're a mod. Simms has administrator rights. He's more elite than you. ;)

cool for him :p But I never saw any special powers I could have outside the HT forum before... Tried to click on somebody's "add infraction" button and seemed like I could have been able to add a warning of some sort...

Anyway, I assume the missing graphic with that thing is now a reported issue. Looks like it's the one thing that makes some users's left side panel larger and then screws up the look of a thread...

As with every upgrade, I'll take a long look at the admin control panel, probably some time tomorrow. That's probably a setting that needs to be changed.

JeeberD 09-02-2006 01:02 PM

So my elitism level is somewhere between FM and Simms...interesting. ;)

Here's what I'm seeing, FM.

yeah, and that checkmark that I'm not getting is the thing that's screwing things up. I'm afraid to clear my cookies and relog since we've have crap issues with that in the past... I guess it will work out at one point...

FM

FrogMan 09-02-2006 01:12 PM

dola, and we're back to the multicolored smilies as of a few minutes ago, so Ryan (or somebody else) is still working on the thing...

FM

FrogMan 09-02-2006 01:13 PM

double dola, aha!!!

The dictator has worked his magic. I can't add infraction anymore, weehee, the board looks good now and I'm back to a non-elite frog ;)

FM

FrogMan 09-02-2006 01:14 PM

triple dola, forget that, didn't realise the last five posts had been by either me or another mod, so they were all okay. I'm an idiot, there's nothing more to add :)

The issue is still there for me.

Northwood_DK 09-02-2006 02:11 PM

I also got the red-x

You are unable to see the infraction icon as we have not yet updated the styles to include the icon. If you change over to the default vBulletin 3 style you can see the default icon.

what is odd is that this seems to be browser related. I see the threads fine in Firefox now (just like jeebs could see them before) but it doesn't work in IE...

That's because Firefox doesn't show the red X, only IE does. :)

Messing around with some of the upgrade's new features right now. Most notably, I've enable multi-quoting. If you see anything new or confusing as of this morning, let us know.

That is flippin' brilliant. This version of vB is gold, especially since I'm not having any problems viewing anything. :D

Re: Upgrade issues thread

The only problem I am having is a Red X instead of a graphic for the "Multi-Quote this message" and "View Post" features. Otherwise, everything is working well.

Many thanks to all involved.

It means that we can quote multiple messages without having to copy and paste from both messages. :)
