When and what will Jim's next game be?

Thread will be opened once poll options are created.

Ben E Lou 09-16-2006 06:50 AM

Post your game and release date predictions in the thread. Here's the pertinent info from http://www.solecismic.com

TazFTW 09-16-2006 07:07 AM

TCY2 in December.

Passacaglia 09-16-2006 07:07 AM

Dude lives 30 minutes from Ann Arbor -- I'm sure he doesn't have Lions fever.

stevew 09-16-2006 07:17 AM

TCY2 in October. But I really hope it's a new FOF.

Swaggs 09-16-2006 07:41 AM

I'm hoping for TCY2, but I think it will be a new FOF.

New FOF will be just fine, too, though. :)

Vegas Vic 09-16-2006 07:43 AM

TCY2, November

wbatl1 09-16-2006 07:43 AM

TCY 2007 in November

gottimd 09-16-2006 07:58 AM

FOF6

with almost every feature in the Ideas for FOF6 thread incorporated

MizzouRah 09-16-2006 08:21 AM

TCY 2 in October. I really could care less which game it is as they are both still fun to play.

Raiders Army 09-16-2006 08:29 AM

Is this a preemptive strike on the inevitable "When's the game coming out and what is it?" thread?

azjoe_02 09-16-2006 08:29 AM

FOF6 in October....I think...and hope!

Yeah, I thought threads like these were usually posted by new members, which inevitably turns into to an argument and then skydog locks the thread or it is deleted?

But I still answered the poll:rolleyes:

So does full version release of one, mean a patch or update release of the other?

cartman 09-16-2006 08:40 AM

I'm still holding out hope that the game is a merge of the TCY/FOF franchises into a single football game, ala CM/FM.

dbd1963 09-16-2006 08:45 AM

I picked FOF2006 in December, but it doesn't matter which he does, I'm buying it.

JimboJ 09-16-2006 08:48 AM

Do we know for a fact its going to be football?

I think so.

Actually, I believe I post one of these every year.

That being said, I've NEVER understand the new-member-post-asking-about-the-new-game phenomena. I'd presume that a new member who is familiar with past versions of FOF got here by linking from solecismic.com, where there is information that none of them seem to know about. Strange.

jbmagic, is that you???

Seriously, this post probably helps explain the new members posting this question over and over issue I mentioned in my last post.

Ben E Lou 09-16-2006 08:56 AM

early on...13 FOF votes, 13 TCY votes

JeeberD 09-16-2006 09:01 AM

I'm hoping for a new FOF but am afraid it's going to by TCY2...

albionmoonlight 09-16-2006 09:07 AM

I'm thinking FOF6. I think that the more Jim sees multiplayer play out, the more he sees ways to make it really, really good. And he does not want to wait to do that.

I'm hoping, however, for TCY2

albionmoonlight 09-16-2006 09:08 AM

dola--

which is funny, because I like the pro game a lot better. But I guess that I think that TCY2 could really add some stuff since TCY1 came out.

Yeah, I think some people forget that the TCY has not undergone the morphing that FOF has. FOF has gone through the Fourth Edition and 2004 since TCY was released (what, like 5 years ago?)

If TCY2 were the new game, it would likely borrow of what Jim did in FOF 2004

Translation: Whatever game it is, it will have a better than average shot of being good.

Capital 09-16-2006 09:50 AM

I hope that its FOF6...if I want a college game than Bowl Bound is more than satisfactory. That being said, Jim's quote was numerous months ago and things could change. IMO, no one has to hold Jim, or Jim himself, to his quote. That was just his thoughts/opinions a while ago.

Honolulu Blue 09-16-2006 09:54 AM

I'm surprised SD did this poll, because I would expect him to be one of the first to know which game it's going to be (besides Jim & his crack 3-person beta team, of course).

Since our favorite game designer has moved on to Mr. Gindin's Dream House, I haven't much cared what he does. When the game comes out, I'll evaluate its merits and demerits then.

I was also surprised that Skydog posted this poll. If anyone has inside info, it would be him. This was encouraging.

sachmo71 09-16-2006 10:01 AM

At this point, my only real interest is in the historical leagues, and things are running just fine. i can't really think of anything that I need in a new version that wouldn't probably have a poor trade-off in terms of existing data, so I would vote for "irrelevant".

Icy 09-16-2006 10:20 AM

I voted October 2006, FOF6 and i really hope it is, i need a pro game way more than a college one as BBCF is fun enought for me.

About Skydog starting this thread... i think and it's only a guess that he knows more than that he wants us to know, probably he knows that a release is comming and just wants some fun and to create a bit of hype in the community, to put us on a good mood. One of the proofs for me is that i haven't seen him voting, the other is that he usually hates this kind of threads so why to start one himself? did jbmagic wash Skydog's brain finally? Of course it's just a guess and he won't tell us what we would like to know.

The new Solecismic poll, in light of new info

(I figured it would get started some time this morning anyway, so why not go ahead and do it. )

With Jim having updated TCY to version 1.3, what do you think the next Solecismic release is going to be?

NOTE: This is not what do you WANT the next release to be, but what do you THINK it will be.

Sorry to deflate the conspiracy theorists.

Bad-example 09-16-2006 11:09 AM

I suspect Jim will surprise everyone by releasing both FOF6 and TCY 2 in November.

kingnebwsu 09-16-2006 11:13 AM

TCY 2 anytime this year would be fine with me...but I said October.

Honestly I thought he would have announced something already.

wade moore 09-16-2006 11:16 AM

I said FOF6 in November, I meant to say TCY2 in November ;).

Way to have it both ways. That way if there is any November release you can claim you were right :).

33sherman 09-16-2006 11:21 AM

TCY2, pls.

:)

I suspect Jim will surprise everyone by using FOF200x and TCY200x rather than FOF6 and TCY2. :p

I think that's the most striking thing in this whole thread so far.

Barkeep49 09-16-2006 11:26 AM

In early returns it seems as though FOF is outpolling TCY. So the question is, does this really reflect the wisdom of the crowd or are more people pulling for FOF?

I wake up within five minutes or so of the same time nearly every morning, without the use of an alarm clock. Why should *that* surprise you??? :p

hoosierdude 09-16-2006 12:19 PM

Wouldn't be great if Jim could stagger a TCY 2 and then a FOF update or new FOF release this season. That would knock everyone back on their heels.

:)

I wake up 10 minutes before my alarm clock goes off every morning to the sound of my son whispering "daddy"

The last FOF game is much, much closer to something that could stand out in the 2006/2007 text game market, while TCY would take a huge overhall. Considering how uninterested in programming games Jim seems to have been in recent years, it just seems like FOF would be the faster project, and best bet.

I wouldn't say he's been uninterested, but other more important things (i.e. raising a family, building a house, etc) have his life tied up. I applaud him for putting those interests ahead of us who "want a new game".

But seriously Jim, release the game.......anytime now........we're not waiting or anything...

:D

I would say he's been uninterested. It's not intended as a criticism when I say it, and I don't think molson meant it as one either, but with all of the things you listed I do think that Jim simply has felt the need to be programming.

st.cronin 09-16-2006 01:24 PM

I would probably not buy a new FOF game. I would only buy TCY2.

My thinking too. I think IHOF has given Jim a ton of insight into multiplayer and its potential.
