Pitch your idea for Jet Li's next movie

So, Jet Li has decided he's getting out of the martial arts genre. Okay....

Tell me what you see as his next movie role. Sell me on the concept. Go!

I think he should try to be the new Jeremy Piven, filling all those annoying coworkers and agent roles.

Ryche 09-16-2006 09:31 AM

Porn star, the new Ron Jeremy.

Daimyo 09-16-2006 12:39 PM

He's getting out of the martial arts genre because of his health right?

I believe that's correct, yes. But not before Fearless, and that movie is going to kick a lot of ass. :)

Santa Claus........with muscles.

Eaglesfan27 09-16-2006 01:30 PM

He's my favorite martial arts action star. I'm sorry to see him go. He is funny at times, but I can't see him pulling off the transition to other genres with any significant success.

Bad-example 09-16-2006 01:47 PM

I can't wait to see him portray the legendary Jimi Hendrix!

JPhillips 09-16-2006 04:37 PM

Do we know how he feels about Jews? He could always be in the next Mel Gibson epic.

Blade6119 09-16-2006 04:40 PM

He already picked him next movie:

This thread inspired me to read more about him, since I didn't know he was giving up martial arts movies. I find it amazing that he is 43.

stevew 09-16-2006 04:49 PM

He's definitely from the Bill Clinton school of technicallity, cause

"Fearless' is his last 'wushu' movie which is a narrowly defined genre for movie that explores the philosophy and spirit of wushu. He will continue to do other genres like modern action movie, wuxia movie and historical epic etc."

So basically this is a non event.

Eaglesfan27 09-16-2006 04:52 PM

Ahhh. That makes more sense. Unleashed was a good movie in which he showed a bit more dramatic acting, but I'd still consider it a martial arts action movie, even if it wasn't wall to wall action.

FrogMan 09-16-2006 05:02 PM

and after reading the synopsis for Rogue, his next movie, I'd expect it to be quite full of action, some of it being the kind we're use to from him, maybe not in the "Hero" or "Fearless" kind but still...

What's the problem with his health?

Water Dragons on a Plane

kcchief19 09-16-2006 08:16 PM

I predict he will team up with DL Hughley in a buddy cop film where Hughley will play a wisecracking detective in New York city and Li will a cop from San Francisco on the trail of Chinese drug smugglers. Comedy will ensue when a stuffy police bureacrat played by Ron Rifkin will order the two disparate detectives to work together to bring down the bad guys. One international incident after another and plenty of acrobatic stunts will dazzle audiences in between jokes mostly at expense of the fish out of water detective Li.

His third non-martial arts film will be the sequel to this film, only this time it will be Hughley travelling to the West Coast to avenge his cop father's death while accidentally stumbling into a gang war that we later find is tied to his father's death.

Oh, and Richard Donner will be involved somehow.
