Garr! Websites blocked at work!
 

Garr, last night they blocked just about all my favorite sites...except this one.

They even blocked the GEFL and IHOF! :eek:

Until July I was doing temp work(got laid off last August) and most of the places I temped at blocked this site, I think it was because it's listed as a game site. Though one place blocked discussion/forum sites.

Use Google as your proxy. Using the language translation tools, you can translate FOFC from English to.....English! And your proxy server should only see google.com as the domain.

For example, this thread is:

http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools

Yeah, as I went through my favorites links, I was very concerned this one was getting the axe.

About the only other sites that made the cut were the UT sites/message boards. I'm utterly amazed that IHOF's and GEFL's message boards got the chop....games. Meh. I haven't tried Solecismic but I imagine it's dust.

At least I'll have something to look at while I pass my day.

GEFL forum is okay, hopefully IHOFs forum is okay. The regular site is banned, though.

This is the exact same thing that has happened at my work just recently. This place was blocked since gamespy was a banned site but I managed to get around it by using a proxy server for a long time.

The only problem was that the high school I work at has started cracking down on kids using these anonymizers to get around blocked sites like myspace. The funny thing was, once the proxy server was blocked, this board became unblocked. I thought that someone must have come to their senses but that only lasted a few days. Now every web site with 'game' in its title is gone.

I just hope that they don't start blocking 'sports' as a keyword or I'm totally screwed.

It agitates me because I'm really not doing the job I came here for, and the job I'm doing now is borderline ridiculous. I'm not busy about 95% of the time. I joke that if I receive an award, it's going to be for providing "countless hours of training on the shredder located within the x. His loyal devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself, the Navy, and combined joint task force horn of Africa."

We joke that the reason the Navy doesn't send me home now is, well, who would take care of the shredder?

I "can" get on the internet, and I will, at the MWR shack. I'm limited to 30 minutes while I'm there, and there's usually about a 15-30 minute wait for that. Before I got my account here at work, that's what I did.
