See Ya ChiSox?

After the loss to the Tigers tonight (Detroit took 2 of 3 in Chicago), the Sox now trail Minnesota by 5.5 in the Wild Card and the Tigers by 6 in the Division.

The Twins have 11 left, while the Tigers and Sox have 10 to go. The Sox and Twins finish up with a 3 Game Series in Minneapolis the last weekend.

Are the Champs done for?

MylesKnight 09-20-2006 10:59 PM

By the way, the Twins are 65-28 (.699) since June 7th (they started the year 25-33).

WOW!!!

Yes.

Perhaps Ozzie can use the down time to figure out if he's Venezuelan or Mexican.

Yeah, they have had the fork sticking in their back for a few days now, courtesy of the Big Hurt.

It breaks my heart (sniff, sniff).

the final weekend between the White Sox and Twins will be meaningless

A shame.

k0ruptr 09-21-2006 07:00 AM

Yes, we are done now, I admit it. yet I dont think I mind as much, because last year was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my lifetime :)

Passacaglia 09-21-2006 07:26 AM

As much as I would love a Tigers-White Sox, ALCS, looks like it ain't gonna happen.

Ksyrup 09-21-2006 07:31 AM

I don't think Detroit's getting out of the first round. Even if the pitching is there, they have been too reliant on homers and clutch hitting to put up the kind of sustained offense they will need in the playoffs. They have a hard time beating good pitching. I'm hoping otherwise, but... They really needed to do a deal for Bobby Abreu. And stop bringing in so many mediocre National League players.

Not for the Twinkies... The Central Title may be on the line, as well as Homefield in the Divisional Round and a matchup (or avoided matchup depending on whom you do/don't want to play) with the Yankees or A's..

The Tigers close the season with a three-game homestand against the Royals.. I'd say advantage DET at this point in the Divisional Race, but who knows.

Izulde 09-21-2006 01:29 PM

As much as I hate to say it, yeah I think we're done, barring a miracle.

But I'll take last year's World Series title and no postseason this year versus two straight playoffs with no championship.

Detroit's got a favorable schedule to the end - a makeup vs. Baltimore, 6 against KC, and 3 against Toronto. Although, KC has been solid in the 2nd half and did a bit of damage to Boston, Minnesota, and Chicago in the past month or so, so you never know.

MylesKnight 09-21-2006 01:35 PM

By the way, here are the remaining schedules..

DETROIT (91-61) (10 Games Left, 6 Home, 4 Away)
- at Balt (1)
- at KC (3)
- TOR (3)
- KC (3)

MINNESOTA (90-61) (11 Games Left, 7 Home, 4 Away)
- at Bos (1)
- at Balt (3)
- KC (4)
- CHI (3)

CHICAGO (85-67) (10 Games Left, 4 Home, 6 Away)
- SEA (4)
- at Clev (3)
- at Minn (3)

Interesting, I didn't know that making the playoffs this year would take away their world series title from last year.

:p

I meant the case if not both title and consecutive playoffs, then title is better.
