Somebody's always gotta take away from the no alcohol comment. My entire life I tell someone "I've never drunk alcohol" and they say, "What about cough syrup?" I tell them that I've never drunk alcohol as a beverage, and they say, "What have you drunk it as?"

i understand. i dont drink either. rarely ill have a margarita with Fajitas. but thats rarely. god i love fajitas, have em every week.

I hear you. I never drank alcohol until I returned home from a deployment to find my wife a lush. My wife, who had never drank before that deployment, made up for lost time while I was gone.

I felt compelled, forced, whatever you want to call it, to drink in an attempt to keep her. It's not something I'm proud of, that's for certain. I had my first drink at 27 years and 6 months.

Once that hit, it became an issue of sorts. My navy buddies drink. Do I drink with them? I avoid it for the most part still, but I will still have a drink with them now and then. The last time I was "drunk" was Super Bowl Sunday, when my wife told me she wanted the divorce. I haven't had a drink since I arrived here in Africa.

I still feel guilty for even drinking in the first place. I hope that avoiding alcohol out here will lead to me not drinking when I get back home. I know my wife's been "drying out" as well, thankfully. It might just happen.

I wish I could still say I haven't drank alcohol. Good luck with that, Anxiety. Just don't think I'm razzing you about not drinking. I'm proud of you.

So I guess you can't tell me about Djiboutian beer? Dammit!

I think all the beer here at the "Cantina" is imported. When I've gone down there, I've never recognized any of the beers in anyone's hands.

ive had a couple beers from Ghana...they were both god-awful...i doubt Djiboutian beer would be any better.

EDIT to add: upon further review, there are no beers actually made in Djibouti, although i am sure if they did make any, they was be awful

They do, on an unrelated note, have a Coca-Cola plant. I saw it on my way to the French hospital. That trip, and my trips to the orphanage, are the only times I've left the base.

Have you ever had Banks Beer from Barbados? Surprisingly good...luckily for me since there was only Banks and rum to drink on that island, and I'm not a big fan of rum.
