NFL 2006 Harris Poll

Interesting stuff here:

http://www.harrisinteractive.com/har...ex.asp?PID=700

My observations:
  • There are a lot of bandwagoners...probably about 5-10% of all fans
  • The Saints are very much not America's team.
  • 1 in 5 adults think Indy will win the Superbowl...LOL

I'm not sure whether those results indicate a response of "Jacksonville has an NFL team?" or if it's simply "Who cares that Jacksonville has an NFL team".

It's funny that Jacksonville is dead last in popularity but beats out Houston, New Orleans, Buffalo, Tennessee, Kansas City, and Cleveland in people who think they'll win the Superbowl.

I'm surprised that Washignton isn't at least over some teams like TEN and MIA.

I am kinda surprised that the percentage of people that followed football increased as household income went up. I have always thought of the game as the "blue collar" sport. Same thing with college educated folks.

I thought the same thing, but reconsidered that probably the <$15k are probably high schoolers or college kids. I think they're more apt to be college fans than NFL fans. Party on Saturday and Sunday is a true day of rest.

Not Lions' fans! The last year they made the playoffs only 2% said they were their favorite team, the last two years of the Millen Era? 5%.

Wow, the 49ers' drop in popularity is rather precipitous.
