Box scores in fof 2007
i am not able to pull up Box scores in the game. is there somewhere where you have to indicate that you want to save box scores or is it a bug.
|
they come up as HTML files in your web browser
|
where would u go to find them
|
They're right on the simulation screen, the box and log icon that shows up after you sim. If it isn't coming up when you click those, I could only guess that it's something to do with how your computer recognizes html files.
|
I like them MUCH more than the old ones.
|
yeah i see the box and the log but nothing happens when i click on them.

Might want to post this in the bug thread http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...ad.php?t=53742 there. It sounds computer related but might have a better chance at getting an official response there on what to do. |
My problem, already posted in the bug thread, is that I get a small Notepad window with unreadable text when I click on a box score.

Do you have a firewall running that blocked the FOF program from accessing your default web browser? My firewall popped up a warning that I had to click yes on to allow the interaction. If you do have a firewall running, you might want to unplug your computer from the internet, and then shut down your firewall. Then try running FOF and see if you can bring up the box score or log. This would let you know that it is your firewall that is causing the problem. |

What's your default web browser? You might want to try setting your default web browser to another web browser that you have installed on your computer. Or reset your current default web browser. You should be able to find an option to do this inside the web browser's options. |
You also might want to turn off pop-up blocker if you have it enabled.

Be sure you have game logs and boxscore set to save under global options |
i don't see any place to save box scores or logs under global options
|
There isn't an option in 2007.

Thanks for the suggestion. I use Netscape mainly so I went in and set it as my default browser. No difference. |
when u say "no difference" i assume you mean that you can't pull up the box scores or they are no looking right?
i did email solecismic for support so hopefully jim will have an answer. |
Stupid question: You don't have .html files utilizing Notepad as the default, do you?
|
how would i know if that is the case= altho i don't think so
|
waltwal I hve the same exact issue, Im pretty sure it's my pop-up blocker or firewall.....will look into it later and let you know my findings, lol
|
i have tried various pop-up settings. but i wonder from those of you that are not having a problem what is your default browser- i think mine is internet explorer.
|
Mine's IE6, and it works fine.
|
craig - just to clarify. when you go to the simulation window and click on team summary and then you go to say the first game and click on it. the score comes up with a box and log. you then click on the box or log and it immediately shows up. nothing else has been done to set it up? i am not sure what edition of ie i have but it works with everything else. where would you go to see the number of ie that one has?

When IE is running click on help and then select About Internet Explorer. |
It could also be that you have some sort of virus or spyware that is messing with your HTML associations. That would be something to check as well.
|
Walt - do this..
1. Open My Computer 2. Go to Tools -> Folder Options 3. Click the "File Types" Tab 4. Go to the H's. Highlight "HTML". 5. Look at the "Details for 'HTML' extension" at the bottom. It will say Opens with: XXXXXXXX What is it set to for opens with? |
Thank you, Wade. I don't know how it happened but my computer was set to open all html in Notepad. My problem is fixed. :)

I've PM'd SkyDog to see if he is collecting these fixes anywhere/submitting them to Solecismic. |
If anyone has trouble changing it so that html is associated to IE, Firefox, Netscape, or whatever, I can write up quick instructions - but I think it's relatively straight forward.
|
none of these suggestions helped, lol, I thought for sure it would be my pop-up blocker.
HTML is set to IE so no clue. oh well |

What exactly happens for you? Do you get the garbled text or does nothing happen? |
nothing happens wade....I even turned all my pop-up blockers off and symantic and that didnt help either. *shrug*
not that upset about it, as Im still having fun playing it :) |

Ah, ok, wanted to figure out if you had the same symptoms. A stupid question here - is IE open when you click the button? If yes, have you tried it with it not open? I'm grasping at straws right now. |
yes it normally is, let me try, brb
|
ok, after closing all of my windows or instance of IE, it finally popped up an IE instance that was blank, lol.
|
IE security settings maybe?
|
If you installed FOF 2007 to the default directory use Windows Explorer (it is under accessories on the start menu) to look in
C:\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\universe (replace C: with the letter for your hard drive) and see if you have a file named lastboxlog.html or lastboxlog If you do, right click on the file name and select properties. What is the size of the file? Is it bigger than zero? Edit: I should try to explain this, if you are unfamilar with Windows Explorer. When you launch Windows Exporer, you need to left click (or double left click)on "My Computer". Then left click (or double left click) on your hard disk drive (possibly C: it may be another letter). Then you should see a folder named Program Files. If you do not, then close Windows Explorer and then follow the step again but this time try a different hard disk drive (pick a different letter like D: ). Once you find a folder named Progam Files, you need to left click (or double left click) on it. Then there will probably be quite a few folders to choose from. You want to find the one that is labeled Solecismic Software and left click (or double left click) on it. Contine like this next selecting the Front Office Football 2007 folder and then the universe folder. Finally you should see a file named lastboxlog.html or lastboxlog |
so does this kill the FOF Game Viewer?
|
Yes, because now there's a new FEATURE called SOLEVISION.
But, freak out anyway, it seems to be the M.O. around here for people with less than 10 posts. |
thanks for the quick reply. And I wasn't exactly 'freaking out', more like inquiring.

You need to set HTML files to open with your web browser, not Notepad. |

OH MY GOD THE END OF THE WORLD IS UPON US...oh wait, I have more than 10 posts....carry on. |
Thanks Twothree and everyone else, I will just use the method twothree described, works fine for me. :)
|
2-3 what happens when u find the lastboxlog. i click on it and i get 1 box score or 1 game log of a random game. i have no ability to see anything other than that 1 log or box.
|
FOF 2007 writes the box score or game log you click on to the file "lastboxlog". When you open this file you will see the last box score or game log you clicked on in game.
I was trying to determine if the problem for both of you was that FOF 2007 was not writing this file. However, it appears that for the both of you, the problem is getting FOF 2007 to launch and display the file. I can only conclude that a security feature on your computer is preventing this interaction. Either a firewall, pop-up blocker, or internet browser security setting is probably the cause of your troubles. It appears that this is not a bug in FOF 2007. I would suggest both of you post the name of the firewall, pop-up blocker, internet browser software that you are using. Perhaps someone that is using the same software would be able to further guide you in getting this problem solved. |
