Run to Pass ratio

It seems like the ratio is heavily weighted towards the pass. P. Manning has thrown for over 5000 yards in each of my last 3 seasons. Not only that but I normally see 2-4 other QBs with at least 4,000 yards.
On the flip side, there are a very small number of RBs that ever eclipse 1500 yards. These numbers seem a tad off to me.
I guess what I'm getting at is, what can be done about it? Or will I just have to wait patiently for a patch that hopefully balances thnings out a little.
All in all though this is an amazing game though. After suffering with Madden's shallow franchise for years, it was a very happy moment when I discovered this game.
GO BROWNS!

if theres only 2-4 qbs with 4,000 yards, it must be toned down quite a bit from fof2004. i'd expect 11-12 at least

Browns_Fan 10-31-2006 06:32 PM

Wow, 11-12, that's bad! I guess I can live with 4. But 5,000 yard seasons should be once an era, if that.

Joe 10-31-2006 06:36 PM

yeah, it doesnt seem like qbs are a lock for 4,000 yards if they play in all 16 games anymore, which is good.

What injury setting are you using?

Browns_Fan 10-31-2006 06:43 PM

I'm using the default 100 setting

Eaglesfan27 10-31-2006 07:03 PM

With default 100 injury setting in my universe the running backs are dominating more and there are very few QB's approaching 4000 yards and none approaching 5,000. It would be interesting to get a meta analysis of quite a few "real roster" leagues 1st year results. I expect to see quite a bit of variability from league to league but am guessing that the average of the results would be fairly good.

I think one reason for so few "mega-rushers" is a gameflaw that has always been there in Jim's games. That being that FoF has this tendency to give back-up RBs way too many carries. Every version I ever played (all 4) did this. Drove, and still drives me nuts. And it's darn near impossible to get the FB a decent amount of carries, which back in the 70's was common to see FBs have 1,000 yard seasons (Otis, Brockington, Harris, Csonka, etc.)

You sound so... proud.

I certainly haven't seen a 5000 yard passing season yet, and in my game only a handful of QBs have even hit 4000 more than a couple of times. It's definitely much improved in that respect from the previous game.

I'm getting the same as you, defense seems to be much better than 2k4 also.

I just finished 2007 this is with injuries at 150. In 2007 there were 5 QBs with 4000+ with P. Manning at 4400. In 2006 with injuries at 100, there were only 2 and Bulger lead with 4200.

From a rushing perspective in 2005 NFL there were 10 RBs with 300+ carries. In my two FOF seasons there 6 and 7 rushes over 300. At the team level 8 NFL teams rushed over 500 times, in my 2007 season 6 did and one was at 499 and in 2006 there were 8.

Here are some passing comparisons.

4000 yard passers:
2005 NFL - 2
2006 FOF - 2
2007 FOF - 5

500 attemps:

2005 NFL - 7
2006 FOF - 12
2007 FOF - 10

P.Manning has now eclipsed 5000 yards in 4 straight seasons, although the rest of the league seems to have cooled off.
Another thing I noticed is that recieving yardage seems very spread out, without many 1400 yard plus seasons.
Still though this is leaps and bounds over Madden, the level of statistics in this game is ridiculous. I fracking love this game!
