FOF: Longest field goal?

I had a kicker hit a 67-yarder in FOF2004.

I my 40+ year career the longest I can find is 59 yards

I had a 61 yarder in FOF04.

I had a 63 yarder (TCY) at the gun to win a playoff game by a pretty crappy kicker (for my team's standards). I'd have to go back in game logs to see if that is the longest though.

I noticed this too, in my 2K7 career of 25 or so years, the longest kick ever is 59 yards. Is this some kind of hidden field goal bug? Very strange.

On the "miscellaneous Offensive Settings" screen, there is an option to choose how long a desperation field goal attempt you want your kicker to try. It appears that Jim has the recommended longest distance set for the AI as 59 yards. User controlled teams could trivially change this to 63, 65 or more if they want to obliterate Tom Dempsey's name from the rulebooks.

It is possible to try one longer than 59 in FOF2007, but you need the wind at your back and it probably needs to be an end-of-game situation. It should be sufficiently rare that not everyone is going to see this, especially since the end-of-half setting tends to be lower than 59 for most teams.
