FOF2K7: Seasonal Rust
First off, this is a very nice addition in general. I just noticed something pretty cool about it: it first appears right before the last game of the preseason. It's nice that you get a chance to see which players need to get more playing time before that final game. Has anyone determined yet whether or not a guy who gets hurt and misses 5 or 6 games comes back with Seasonal Rust?

I can't wait until the patch comes out and I get to spend some serious game time with Jim's latest. I want to jump in with cold feet right off the bat. :)

Would *love* to see seasonal rust lised in the roster screen maybe within the injury screen. I hate having to click each player. :)

Just sat out my star RB, WR, and LT for the entire preseason. RB and LT had "quite a bit" of seasonal rust, and the WR had "significant" seasonal rust. After opening day, they all dropped to "some" and after the second game, the rust was gone completely.
Bench guys get season rust up to "extreme" so their penalties must be pretty tough. Free Agents really suffer badly from seasonal rust as well. So picking up that veteran player to sub in for an injury might not be quite as appealing as using your depth. :) |

Yeah, yeah, yeah. |
Rust occurs in season as well. Backups that don't get on the field collect rust to encourage giving them some playing time.
Now would be a great time to note that I would LOVE a column on a roster screen to show rust level. I currently hate having to look at each player card to find it. Alternatively, a weekly email would be ok too. |
oooohhh... a weekly email for rust would be nice!

Guess he fitted into your scheme then! Big increase in run blocking - this kind of thing sums up the game for me: a change of environment might mean a player under/over performs compared to past stats just like IRL However, it does mean there's a large random element: if scout error is so large you can't completely trust ratings, then you have to rely on statistics more. However, a change of team also brings another random element into play, so you have to see overall ratings almost as an indicator of likely success/failure. It's a vicious circle! |
