TCY: St. Louis - 2006
|
Well, right off the bat C Rickey Reese has been suspended for the season for injuring another student in an off-campus fight.
Kennedy Chui of Texas has been named Coach of the Year for his performance this past season. |
Our FULL staff is back for this year.
I also keep ticket prices the same. |

My thoughts:
QB: McWilliams is easily our starter. We can still wait a year looking for his replacement, or you can recruit one this year, giving the new recruit some game experience as a r-freshman. I've just about given up telling you not to recruit a quarterback. RB: Good, good, good. Any time you take your top player at a position and can clearly replace him is good. Skip's ready to roll. Thurman will still get some touches as the #2 guy. Lane's capable as the swing. This allows both freshmen to sit the year. I'd like to try and bring in one of the best backs MO has to offer this season, but it's not necessary. We have decent depth right now and three young backs. If we can't nab the best MO back, then I say we don't go after one. FB: Grant stood out at the end of the year. We do need another FB...preferably one who's strength is run blocking. TE: Cedeno is a surprise starter, though Lucas will continue to play as well. Starting Cedeno helps maximize his experience, and his ability right now is not that much of a downgrade from Lucas. Another TE this year would make me very happy. OL: Thomas and Winters are our rocks. B Talley fills the hole at left guard between them. The right side we have two freshmen starting, Dawkins taking over from N Talley and Borders stepping in at right tackle. Kemp redshirts as we have a little depth here. Some depth here would be nice across the board. K&P: Sportsman's reward. Clear starter at punter, not so clear at kicker. Huddleston redshirts. Nothing needed here. WR: You insist on receivers. We'll redshirt Holliday as he's behind Bitkowski and Valle can fill our almost forgotten about #2 receiver spot. What we need: FB, TE, C, G, T. What else I'd like: RB. If you must, a QB. What I don't need: WR, K, P. What you'd like: QB, WR, K, P. :) Out of our 16 scholarships, I'm asking for 5-6. Give the rest to our defense. We need defense. |
Next time use colors! ;)
Sounds good OC, thanks!! |
Roger. BTW, it looks like my internet/email time frames will be about once a week...around this time of the week.

MizzouRah,
I would highly recommend setting some higher standards in recruiting this year. There are plenty of 28+ guys that will be around late in recruiting and it seems like you are settling too quickly. Even if they have low athletic prep scores if they are even average in the classroom you can redshirit them and they will be ready in a few years. Don't even look at any guys under 50 until week 8 or so. Also, despite what AE says I would try to grab a QB now. If you can get a nice one then redshirit him he can step in as a redshirit sophmore and really be ready to go. The system you are running needs not just a good QB but a great one. If you don't bother with one this year then it will be a huge priority next year (as he would have to start as a red shirit freshman). Also, I would lower the prices on the tickets next year. You are not selling nearly enough. |
Well, in my walk on dynasty, I took a Power I team to the National Championship with a legit walk on quarterback.
My vision is being able to do the same thing here. |

Recruiting has definitly been a weak spot in my TCY careers... and after reading this I thought to myself, I was just thinking about this last night. Some of the recruits I landed, only came to us because I was the ONLY school who offered them a scholly. I kept them the same this year, but you're right.. lowering them might get some more butts in the seats. Thanks. AE knows I'll look for a QB, he just likes to give me trouble. :D I appreciate the thoughts though and I'll definitly take them to task. |

Outlook:Well, losing Castillo is obviously not a good thing. The bright side is we have a few young players who could be really good in time. So the question comes, sacrifice the present for the future? I say yes, if there is not a dramatic difference. Luckily for us, there isnt. Kitchings steps in, with Latimer and walters platooning on the other side. Recruiting Need:We need 1-2 bodies, but they can suck becuase we have our stars of the future already. Quote:
Outlook: Beeson played well as a frosh, and now will help bring broussard along. Hopefully they dont get injured, as the depth is not great here. Recruiting Need: We need a 3rd guys badly...2 wont cut it in our 4-3 alignment. If we cant get one, we will have to move to a 3-4 soon. Quote:
Outlook: Stevenson had a nice red-shirt year and steps in as one of our key players. Yamada played well, so we hope Stevenson can start developing into a force. Recruiting Outlook: Bodies, nothing more... Quote:
Recruiting Need:1 body, nothing more. Quote:
Outlook: Mcmurty is one of the stars of our young defense for now. Aaron Whitfield graduated, and his little brother will now come play his old spot. Recruiting Need:1 body, nothing more...we dont need a lot of talent on defense, just warm bodies. Quote:
Recruiting Need:Were fine, really... Team Outlook: 4-3 works with our DTs, but depth there is a concern. Much like last year, we will live and die by the injuries we sustain. Redshirts: Quote:

Attendance: 3,900 (28,000). I'm telling you, this team is enough to make me drink. Time and time again, we shoot ourselves. Our defense was stellar, causing Marshall 7, yes 7 turnovers, but our offense was anemic, 1-14 on 3rd downs and again, TOO MANY PENALTIES! It was a windy day and our kicker missed a 42 yard field goal that would have put us up late in the 4th quarter. With 9 seconds to go in the half, on Marshall's 1 yard line, our OC decided to go for a TD instead of a FG - although he would later tell me he called a TO with 1 second left, but the ref didn't see it. We lost 3 yards on that play and came away with nothing. |

We need you to coach the offense better...we cant do much more on D then what we did... Nice debut for quite a few of our RS frosh...stevenson obviously, but others played key roles as well. Im really excited at how our defense looks in the future. |
I seriously thought I had the time out called! I was just trying to get us into the middle of the field for the winning field goal!
|
Looking at the boxscore, not much I can do about the 93 yard interception return, either. If that's an incomplete or completion for us, worst case scenario has us making a field goal.
16-9 win at that point. Not pretty, but definitely groundbreaking. Still, an incredibly close game by our troops, we should definitely be happy with the effort of our men. I didn't expect us to win this one, but we nearly pulled it out. Things are definitely looking up. |
Yep, I feel like Missouri with all these terrible breaks. :)
|
If the defense holds, we could double our win total this year.
