AI Salary cap management

Quick question: I haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet, but do AI teams still go over the cap frequently in FOF 2007?

From what I understand it's still somewhat a work in progress, it's suppose to be tweaked more in a patch but currently they *try* to hold onto their core players but eventually they end up going crazy. Seattle in one of my games released their entire roster, including the #1 overall pick from the previous year. They had 140 million in lost cap space with a salary cap of only 144 million.

They didn't go crazy at all. They were just taking an empty cupboard challenge. DUH. :D

if those figures are accurate, i don't see how they could have built a legal team, whad did they do next?

I have no idea, I never have finished that FA. (figured it was a good sign to wait for a patch)

The specific numbers -

Salary cap $144,600,000

Lost cap $142,890,000

Room under $1,710,000

Lost cap next yr $43,620,000

Aren't minimum-salary players not counted against the cap once you get over it, in order to allow teams to field a legal team?

Arizona just pulled the same stunt in my game (pre-patch). They've got 3 non-rookies on the team now with $102m in lost cap space (out of a $128m cap), with another $109m in lost cap next season. What burns me is that they signed Matt Leinart to a huge new contract right before they cut him. Ouch.

No. The top 53 salaries count against the cap, regardless. Of course, the CPU will go over the cap and will even force a human to go over the cap to allow for a legal roster. At least that was my experience with 2004.
