Er...

Holy cow....63 year old great grandmother, 27 year old Mother, probably, what, a 10 year old kid? Hitting GG Grandmother before 75 is a pretty impressive feat.
|
dola,
holy shit, the kid is 12. |
this kid had to be on the naughty list. wtf is he getting a gameboy advance for?

Whoa, she was 15 when she had him? |

Hey... in my family folks would be impressed she waited so long. |
I'd bet loot on that grandmama hitting GG before 70 actually, unless the kid ends up in jail before he can knock someone up.

Aha! Not to get off track here, but did you ever post up more impressions of Gothic 3 in that other thread? :) |

I think I went back and posted some more impressions (if not I meant to :D). There were some bugs with the game that was somewhat annoying and I wasn't a big fan of the way combat was implemented, but overall I enjoyed the game. |
Damn, I live 10 minutes from Rock Hill...get that newspaper everyday, and the first I hear of this is on FOFC from a guy in CA...what are the odds
|
what better, gameboy advance or misdemeanor

not getting arrested |
I remember one Christmas I really wanted a gold Huffy bicycle. Every night I prayed to Haile Selassie that I would get that bike, or my parents would be struck dead by lightning. When people ask me if I got the bike, I say, "Well, my parents are still alive."

I get Rock Hill and Fort Mill mixed up. Isn't Rock Hill the poor, shabby town that seems crime-ridden every time I visit my parents in Charlotte and watch the news there? If so, then this sort of story should hardly come as a shock then. |

Now that's just damn impressive. Someone needs to call the Guinness Book of world records to see if this is a world record. -Cork |
I spent a night in jail once. I have to say, jail is probably the most overrated thing in the world.
|
Think about all of the problems society will avoid if they just off that kid now...

Interesting, 'cause this was big news in both the Atlanta newspaper & TV for a couple of days. |

That's a great way to get him to tell the truth in the future. "Ah, screw it, she's going to turn me in either way." |

I was thinking the same thing when I read the thread. It seems that all she did here was teach the kid not to trust anyone, because they'd rat him out anyway. I'm sure this is going to make this already stable kid much better by handling it this way. |

Not to mention it was in SWEDISH newspapers yesterday :) |

I don't get the impression that's really a consideration. Did you happen to notice the last line of the story as posted here? Quote:
Looks like this was a convienient opportunity for the family to get the kid, as we used to say back home, "sent off". Not to say that's a bad idea, I'm just saying that I think if it wasn't the present, it would have just been whatever opportunity presented itself next. |
So, why not hide the present until Christmas (it's two and a half weeks, holy crap)?

It's been quite a number of years (17 or so) since I was there, but I remember it being a pretty nice little town. And knowing my aunt and uncle, I don't think they would live there if it were a cesspool... |

Not sure what your thinking of. Neither Rick Hill nor Fort Mill really fit that description. Both have really high mean avg income (though low desire for new team and even lower competition for entertainment, come to think of it not real high on the trend setting city meter either) Chester or Gastonia really seems like where you may be thinking? Damn making it worse my wife swears we discussed this for 20 minutes the other night....I really have been working too much |
Oh, yeah, Gastonia really fits that description, but I felt like there were a lot of negative stories coming out of Rock Hill when I visited one time. (I believe it is Rock Hill because Fort Mill is near where my sister lives which is in that really upscale, near-snobbish "town" of Baxter just off I-77.) Maybe it was just a bad sample.
|
This kid needs to get Scared Straight, send his ass to The Maury Povich Show.
|
Baxter is actually just a neighborhood not a town ;)
But yeah cool idea, lots of snobish folks |
Yeah, I know. That's why I put town in quotes. It has all the amenities like a town center and so forth, but it's still just a neighborhood. It's a nice enough area, but I thought it tacky that my sister's family got one of those "BAX" stickers to put on their SUV.
