Ahhhhh stupid draft AI

The Detroit Lions have a great young QB in Albert Burroughs. He was the 3rd overall pick last year, and is a 39/80. In his rookie season (2014), he had a 6-5 record and a 77.1 QB rating. He has the 2nd best potential of any QB in the league and looks sure to become a star.

Now, during the 2015 draft, I see Detroit trade up to #7. They trade a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th deal to get the #7 pick. And, for some reason, they go ahead and draft the best QB on the board, a 17/64 Daryl Tyler. They're clearly a team with a lot of other needs, and they had no reason to pick another QB at #7 when they already had a star in the making.

Is this new? I don't recall if the draft AI made such poor decisions on 2k4 or not. This is one of the worst I've seen.

Good to see Matt Millen is replicated in FOF2K7

Maybe they're going to convert Tyler to a WR. That would be cool.

It's a good pick if they decide to trade one of the QB's. They should be able to command a King's randsom, IF they trade one away that is.

Which would be cool. I highly doubt that happening, though.

EXCEPT... my star QB is in the last year of his contract this year (16 year vet) so likely won't be on the team next year, if he's playing at all, so maybe I could trade for one of those guys. They're in the same division though.

wait and see if it trades one og the qb's on it's own. It would be good to observe what the AI will do in this situation.

PSUColonel 12-12-2006 11:09 PM

Will the AI trade players for players in this version?

A few years ago in this career, I observed Philly sign the top Free Agent QB who was coming off of a Super Bowl win, despite having a #1 pick QB on their team (who wasn't turning into anything superspecial). It wasn't a horrible move, as the FA was a vaulable QB and really improved the team, but it would have been nice to see them do something with their now backup QB who was a 3rd or 4th year former #1 pick.
