How Does This Guy Get Underrated?
Morris Lynch is the top player available in the draft with an adjusted grade of 9.0 with the next best grade being 7.6 and he's still considered underrated...huh? Compared to who? I'm so confused.

I'm still trying to understand how this underrated/overrated thing works. If anyone could explain all this to me in English I would appreciate it.

Not sure, but my take is - it's telling you .....
All the players have been evaluated by the scouts; during their college playing time & at the combines. And that after the interview with your scout, he says that he thinks he is better than he was scouted. |
Yeah, that's the way I see it.
The guy is a stud. On a scale of 1-10, the scouts think he's 9.0. But when you interview him, your individual scout thinks he's 9.1 --> underrated. |
I agree with Dutch. Underrated means your scout would give a higher grade than the consensus grade.
By the way, what is the highest grade anyone has seen? |
Highest grade...9.0 is the highest I've seen and he's been worth it so far...he lead us to a Super Bowl win in his 2nd season!! Had to give up 3 first round picks, a 2nd round pick and my starting QB for him...but, no regrets!!!

These are the hardest guys to find (stud QB clearly rated as such). In FOF2004 they were relatively plentiful, here the incidence is less than 20% of what is was in FOF2004

In addition, in the last 10+ seasons, I have only seen TWO stud QBs hit free agency: one was a guy who blew out his ACL in his final year and missed most of the next two seasons and one guy in my last season who was a cap casualty who got cut with one year remaining on his deal and his team against the wall on the cap. Anybody long for the good ol' days in in like FOF2 where backups developed when not playing and would sign ridiculously cheap contracts? |

This has been the key to my success - trading all of my top draft picks for 3 years to get a guy like this. I've had 3 QBs just like your guy...well, really just 1 that was so great so fast (the others took a couple more years to fully develop), but all were no-brainer #1 overall picks. |
To simplify it I think "underrated" means that the player's scouted ratings are better than you would expect to see in a player at that level in the draft. In this case I would suggest that his volitility caused a slight dip in his bureau rating.
