Why Can't Other Games Do This?

They've had this in the game for years, and it just adds so much immersion to me:

Shortstop Alan Trammell had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at Royals Stadium where the
Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 12 to 7.
In the top of the 4th inning Detroit scored 6 runs when they had 7 base hits.
The key offensive moment was provided by Steve Kemp who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he laced a base-knock bringing in two baserunners.
Detroit lit up the scoreboard in the 4th inning when they had 6 runs on 7
hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was
still not enough for Kansas City to come away with the victory.
Milt Wilcox(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Pat Underwood gained credit for his 1st save. Larry
Gura(0-1) was the loser. He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 4
innings.

Why don't we see this in other games?

And what game would this be?

LOL!!! I think you have it wrong, this is Maximum Cricket. This is probably the text sim he talked about making in 1990.

Did these occurrences cause a smile to anyone's face?

Maximum Cricket rolls off the tongue like butter.

It's Strat's Computer Baseball game. I think it's been in there for the past 4-5 years.

MizzouRah 01-02-2007 06:25 PM

It could have been Franchise baseball. :p :D ;)

But their main motive is to justify ripping you off on your money for the purchase of the game and each additional season disk and whatever upgrade they want to over-charge you for.

OOTP on the other hand has career, free agency. financials ect ect plus they freely allow you to participate in their paid betas every year, what sounds like the better value?

Bullshit. You don't want the upgrades, don't buy them. They are currently at version 12, I own version 9 and it has the same feature.

Not everyone likes career play or free agency, the financials are half-assed and it is a totally different game from Strat-o-Matic. Strat is meant for season replays and you are comparing it to a career game?

It was mostly in jest, and I thought that was rather apparent... but you just made my point for me.

Strat is a season replay game, so there is more time to put into things such as listed above.

OOTP, FOF, Puresim and countless other 'career' games have to be more picky about where they invest their time - not just for the amount of time that it could potentially take away from other things but the actual usefulness since there are so many quick-sim players who would never even notice such an update.
