Weight Training
 
Is there a chart somewhere (Skydog??? :cool: ) that shows the ideal height/weight for each position? When should someone be trained?

In the game when you try to change a player's position, it will give you idea's on the player's weight/height for each position.

I think there is an ideal height, although I've had a lot of success with short cornerbacks or short receivers. I believe, however, that the "ideal" weight is dependent on the height of the player. I try to bring my players' body mass ratio to average for that position if possible. That's been getting me some pretty good results for the most part.

I agree this makes logical sense - but does anybody actually know what bulking up/trimming down actually does?

For example, does creating a 330 DT help run defence, or does it make him too big to be effective?

I'm beginning to wonder whether it has something to do with injuries - does a very high body/mass ratio player suffer more knee/ankle injuries, and does a low body/mass ratio player suffer more 'knocks' - bruised ribs, elbow contusion, etc...?

This is one area of the game that I really am guessing at - any thoughts?

The weight thing is a pain in my opinion, but I have seen some improvements from people who were subjected to it.

Try this thread, especially post #43. It was for 2K4, but probably gives you some help in this area.

Note that the height / weight data in there is not correct for veterans. Drafted players are often over / under weight for the position they are playing and once switched away from their drafted position may not be able to switch back.

The first test players I bulked up as part of history generation suggest 320lb + DTs are better run stuffers than their 290-300 versions - I built up Earthquake and Typhoon for my DTs and they both held up at 10% plus tackle percentage for multiple consecutive years. previously they were 6-8%.

Not a huge amount, but the three guys I bulked up all had next no pass rush technqiue anyway - all strength.

I may have overstated the effects: their tacklie percentage actually ranged 8.5-11%, with most being in the 9's, while before they were generally 7-8 percent.

But there were definitely increases. I'm not a big testing kinda person tbh, and now I have my history, things will slow down...

Is endurance related to weight?

The reason I ask is I have a 235lbs RB and a 330 lbs DT who are good players but hardly ever on the field!

My jumbo DTs were durable, starting all 16 games for the majority of years
