Anti-American Nazi's
Please read the post below.
AT another forum I am amember of we have started an email message campaign towards this company. I really could care less what anyone's stance on the war is, the heroes on the ground deserve all our support, they do not decide when, or if they leave.   BTW feel free to go ahead and check, the lady who received the email has already contacted snopes with the documentation that this is no fraud. ******************************************************** Friends, Below is an email exchange between one of my wife's friend's husband and a company that sells different types of mats. He is stationed in Iraq and was inquiring as to whether or not the company ships overseas. He wanted to get the troops better gear to sleep on. This is the companies response. I am floored. I am floored as a military wife and as an American. Please repost this so that this company will hear us loud and clear that we do not stand for this. Whatever your view is on this war - these troops are just following orders. Most are passionate about what they are doing. You can disagree with the war without disrespecting our troops. On Tue Jan 16 3:25 , [email protected] sent: To Whom it may concern: Do you ship to APO addresses? I'm in the 1st Cavalry Division stationed in Iraq and we are trying to order some mats but we are looking for who ships to APO first. SGT Hess" From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 9:44 PM Subject: Re: Feedback: from discount-mats.com SGT Hess, We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq. Bargain Suppliers Discount-Mats.com __________________ |

Dunno, maybe it was someone who got fed up answering questions that are addressed in their posted FAQs and snapped.

So just what about being against the war, being an asshole toward the troops, and being a bad businessman makes them a Nazi? Seems to me they are exactly the *opposite* of a Nazi if you know your history.
;) |
BFD. They're not Nazis.

How do you know? Maybe they make cheeze swastika's in their spare time... |
I believe Wisconsin actually was the headquarters for the American Nazi party at one point.

Is the opposite of a Nazi an International capitalist, a Jew, or a communist? |
Lighten up people, it's an emotional post to something that was probably done spur of the moment. I'm sure no-one else here has done something like that and maybe exagerated in their wording because of an emotional reaction, or maybe said something to their wives or loved ones in an emotional and reactive statement they later wish never came out of their mouth...

Good thing it wasn't a little bit south. Because if there's one thing I hate, it is Illinois Nazis. |
Quote:
Thank you... Actually i was using Nazi (I suppose) more in the modern connotation of the Seinfeld soup Nazi, than say a political affiliation... Ahh hell, no defense it was a poor choice of words, but still a shitty situation. |
Don't even get me started on the Communists from Quiznos.
|
Quote:
Mmmmmmmmmm, Quiznos sub. I think I'll have one, comrad. |
I love the Steak and Ches sandwich.
|
Quote:
That actually does not answer the question that was asked. Shipping to APO addresses are completely different then shipping out of the USA. |
Quote:
Idiot. |
OH IM SORRY THAT WAS A POOR CHOICE OF WORDS!

Their FAQ states that they use UPS for shipping small orders, truck freight for large orders. I was under the impression that only the Postal Service ships to APO addresses. |
Quote:
I never knew that. I guess we learn something new every day. |
is there a business opportunity here to act as a middleman for companies that only ship via UPS or fexEx or whatever and repackaging that for the USPS and shipping to APO's?
hmmm |

riiight. but this could be done like part-time from a dorm-room. WHEEEEEE :D |

I think it would have to be large-volume business to have any chance. I don't think you could charge much more than a dollar a package, and maybe less than that. |
Quote:
mmmhmm. it's all about volume baby. and all about being the idea-man and not the actual worker-bee |
FWIW, shipping anything to an APO address is "shipping within the United States".
The US government picks up the tab for the rest of the mail's journey, at no cost to US businesses or American military and civilians serving overseas. I would say that a pretty decent majority of companies have included APO shipping to their web-sites. Also, those who didn't have APO addresses built in to their web-stores would generally hook you up after an e-mail or two to explain the situation and explain APO shipping (if need be). I don't doubt that there are people who would reply like this above, there are assholes in every walk of life, but by and large, I would suggest running into people like this is rare. Rare enough to get coverage. :) |

Ok...Why Am I being called an idiot here? Granted Nazi may not have been the appropriate term to use, but I fail to see the correlation that leads to me being an idiot. And what does reading the email have to do with a poor choice of words? Is the use of the word Nazi, a sore spot to you I am unaware of? Have I done something in some past thread, past time, or past life to anger you or merit being called an idiot? Have you magically discovered my address, snuck into my house while I slept and done a brain wave analysis or other such test to determine that I actually lack intelligence and in fact idiot is appropriate? Or are you just an asshole? |
Quote:
LOL... you aren't serious, right? That email was all about a 'poor choice of words'. |
Since when did disagreeing with the establishment become anti-american? America was built on disagreeing with the establishment.
|
Quote:
I have no issue with disagreeing the establishment. But that does not mean you should fail to support the men and womn who risk their life for you. If you do not agree with the reason for why they are their, that is your right, protest, yell scream and vote, hell for all we know THEY might not agree with why they are their. But there is an obligation (in my opinion) to support our troops, not wihs them ill |
Quote:
I'm not sure the email is "all about" a poor choice of words. I believe the person chose the perfect words to communicate their exact message. I believe it is more about misplaced blame, or one's inability to separate their political convictions (afflictions?) from basic humanity and decency. I honestly can't see how telling a soldier he should come home is a poor choice of words. |
Quote:
How is telling them they should come home wishing them ill? It's not like the e-mail called them baby-killers or anything like that. |

Looks like someone beat ya to it. http://www.shipitapo.com/ |
I'm shocked that the overwhelming response is arguing over minutia and semantics.
I was outraged at the response, and I am shocked that is not the consensus resposne. I mean, I understand and respect their right to say what they said, but i also support my right to call the a$$holes and do every thing i can to hurt their business ventures... |
I'm a veteran and I don't see a big deal here. *shrug* I get outraged over some eccentric things, sometimes, too, so I can relate.
|
Quote:
What the fuck? You call them Nazi's for opposing a war that's lead to the death of over a 100,000 Iraqi civilians and 3,000 American soliders, and you're surprised? Shit, I supported the war, but people like me (and you) have far more blood on our hands than these people who opposed it. |
Quote:
UPS considers APO addresses to be much the same as a Post Office Box, and hense will not ship there. The issue may be more that they don't use a delivery service other than UPS than anything else. Having said that, the comment the company rep wrote afterward is unprofessional and insulting, and they deserve not to have business. EDIT: CUTiger's already apologized for the inappropriate use of Nazi. Y'all should drop that, otherwise you're just acting like asses. |
Quote:
Certainly vote with your pocketbook. I also think most people would back you, if you made it a priority to publicize the content of the response. Heck, make them pay for their statement. I have no problem with that, so long as it is actually something they did. I'm not going to jump on a bandwagon calling someone a Nazi because of a position they took. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and they are entitled to let others know about it. Yeah, so I believe they are fairly insensitive morons for insulting a military wife, but that is as far as I'm going to go. |

WVU: If CU really believed he shouldn't have said Nazi he would have taken the easy steps to edit it from his post and from the title. Since he didn't I'm forced to believe that his apology was less than sincere.

As with most posts, I usually skim over them. I had to read this one a few times and I'm still not sure what's being said. Thoughts: #1: The title of the thread, as it was said earlier, is misleading and confusing. #2: The email may be real, the company's policy may be real, but I don't think that soldiers need mats to sleep on. This is the 21st Century and if they aren't sleeping on at least cots, then I'd be very surprised. Mats aren't something soldiers need; they aren't body armor or armored HMMWVs. Personally, I'd tell the SGT Hess he needs to stop being such a pussy or he needs to work this through his chain of command or supply channels. If he's a 92Y, then he needs to work this through his Battalion S-4. #3: Appreciate the concern for the troops and I know your heart is in the right place, but I believe this whole thing came across wrongly. |
Quote:
Plus...didn't you go to Clemson? :D |

I have been boycotting bargain mats for some time now due to their strong anti-war stance. |

I'm not obligated to support anyone or anything |
There is ZERO indication from that e-mail that the person who wrote it is a Nazi, anti-American, or that the person wants bad things to happen to the troops. It was a bonehead, and probably insensitive thing to say but CU Tiger has made into something much worse than it really is.
People need to learn what anti-Americanism and a Nazi really are before they start using those two terms in sentences. |
Quote:
#1: Personally I think you are an ASSHOLE. #2: I highly doubt you'd call SGT Hess a pussy to his face. #3: I find it amusing that you decry what you think troops need, if you are vet, then you should know better. Grunts have armored vehicles themselves and indeed have had body armor sent to them from folks at home. Uncle Sam doesnt always provide everything, and I know damn well creature comforts help boost morale. |
Well, this thread was awesome.
