Show us your desktop 2007

I'll start. Running XP

PackerFanatic 01-26-2007 01:23 AM

You have a network connection unplugged, might wanna get that checked.

ISiddiqui 01-26-2007 07:32 AM

But his wireless is connected...

Anyway, I'll post mine in a week or so when I get Vista :D.

Subby 01-26-2007 07:57 AM

At work...

Butter 01-26-2007 07:58 AM

Which one was the beer drinker? :)

Pumpy Tudors 01-26-2007 08:05 AM

OK, I know the thread is "show us your desktop" and not "describe your desktop", but I'm going to describe. My desktop at work has the team picture of the 1994-95 New Jersey Devils team. It was the first Devils squad to win the Stanley Cup. I would describe my desktop at home, but it has so many icons on it that I can't see it anymore.

Rizon 01-26-2007 08:21 AM

Can't, I would get banned.

Maple Leafs 01-26-2007 08:36 AM

Anyone else vaguely worried that Subby has a Word document listing who he needs to kill?

Drake 01-26-2007 08:38 AM

Worried? Yes.

Surprised? No.

MJ4H 01-26-2007 08:43 AM

Every desktop element you see auto-hides. I turn off auto-hide on all the elements for screenshots or else you would just see my wallpaper.

This is BBLean, a branch of Blackbox for Windows. I use it because it is extraordinarily customizable, and extremely slim on resource-usage. For instance, it uses less than 2 Mb of memory in my most comfortable configuration of it, while the default Explorer shell uses over 31 Mb in its most comfortable configuration for me. No contest. Everything responds instantly, so no clicking and waiting. There is a bit of a learning curve with it, but it is the absolute perfect shell for me, and I doubt I will ever use anything else.

EDIT: Also this is resized down from the 1440x900 resolution I run on my laptop.

lordscarlet 01-26-2007 08:52 AM

I'll try to remember to grab my home desktop tonight, but this is work:

(pretty boring, but I wanted to show off my dual monitors. ;) )

Cntl-Print Screen will take a copy of whatever is displayed on your screen. Then just paste and you'll have a picture of your desktop.

I had a Mac, I didn't like the interface:D

Actually, it was too slow G3, so I sold it and got a thinkpad.

Windowsblinds has come a long way since it used to be slow, buggy, a resource hog and didnt have very many good looking styles. If I used explorer shell I would use it I guess.

I've only recently got on board and I can't tell how how many countless hours I have spent this month (since building a new PC) in customizing some of the downloaded themes. I have even gotten to the point where I have different UI/look-and-feel by application. The XP themes that MS gives you for XP and for Plus really sucks (i.e., boring, unimaginative). I chose the above Cobalt Sapphire theme from xpthemes.com even though I modified it quite a bit. Other cool themes I have include an Ancient Egypt one, Rise of Nations theme (even though I don't play that, I have plans to modify to make a Civ4 themes out of it) and the awad-winning Zippo one.

M GO BLUE!!! 01-26-2007 06:50 PM

I'd show mine, but it is a tasteful photograph of a beautiful nude lady featured in an old Players magazine. :D

And that hideous thing you posted is better than the XP themes? On my work machine (aka my Windows machine) I just use the classic theme.

Keep in mind that's celcius, so it's more like -2 or something in fahrenheit. It's actually been, aside from a week long stretch earlier this month, a pretty nice winter so far :)

ISiddiqui 01-27-2007 01:27 AM

-2 F would shut down Atlanta for a week ;).

SackAttack 01-27-2007 02:00 AM

Had to perform some temporary elective surgery, but here's mine:

I grabbed this when you first mentioned this a long time ago. I'll have to start tinkering with it again.

daedalus 01-27-2007 02:58 AM

GE - GORGEOUS background.

Bucc - As someone with some incredible photographs, you NEED to start slapping some of those onto your desktop! :D
