I just noticed

Retired players becoming coaches ? Nice - I've never seen this be4. Not saying much though, I'm not very observant sometimes ... it probably was put in the original FOF, and I have just never seen it.

It would be really cool if that were to be added to his player card. Then you could look up his stats as a player, and then on that same screen would be his record as a coach.

How can you tell if it was an actual retired player? Or was it just someone who happened to have the same name that used to be a player?

Same name (Jim Bakken), same age (40) - 2 years after retirement entered as a new coach. Was a kicker, and his kickers rating was lower than the rest of his coaching skills - so maybe not ;)

I dont think they are the same. I'm sure after you sim about 30+ years, you will see player names duplicated at some point. Does that mean their sons are playing now? I guess if you want it to be that way, it can be, but its not necessarily true.

This was in FOF2K4, and yes they are the same. Every single time you'll have the appropriate age matchup. Also, when their sons come into the league, they're marked with "Jr."

gottimd 02-07-2007 11:46 AM

So if you start from fresh you won't have any JRs on your roster for about 10-15 sim years? It would be nice if that was indicated that they are actually a son but its really not that big of a deal.

I'm sure there have been instances in a professional league where people have had the same name over the history of the league and share no relation.

As I am typing this, I don't even know why I am arguing. If it is, fantastic, never would've noticed anyways unless someone called it out to me.:D

Adrian Peterson of the Chicago Bears and Adrian Peterson, the college player.

I've had David Carr move onto coaching when he retired. Age matches up and everything. He's actually been pretty successful and I believe he's won the Coach of the Year at least twice now.

Also, I had a running back (not on my team, I had Reggie) named Geoff Bush. He came into the league about a year or two after I started and the top two RB's in the league where clearly Reggie Bush and Geoff Bush. A few years ago (I'm now with a different team) following the draft, who is sitting in the Free Agent pool? Running back Geoff Bush Jr (would have been born when senior was about 26). His ratings don't match up to his fathers but I signed him and anytime he has seen field time he has been very good. I'm tempted to just give him the ball to see if he can bloom (he's about a 30/40 in his third season) but I also have a younger RB (52/61 rookie) so it's tough to get him carries.

For my empty cupboard challenge, I hired Rodney Harrison as the head coach. What we lack in talent, we'll make up for in cheap shots.

Same here. Jon Kitna is now a coach in our MP league after being retired for 2-3 seasons.
