No Workout Guys
It seems to me that you are most likely to get big steals in the draft, when they didn't do a workout. In my current SP game, 2 of my 6 hall of famers where 2nd rounders who should have been 1st rounders. They both didnt do workouts. Anybody elese go through the no workout guys first, when looking thru the draft?
|
yea i do, more often than not therye grade is lower than they should be, so they drop furthar. whenever i see a no workout guy i always check them out
|
It makes sense that they're rated lower than they "should" be, because a guy who didn't do workouts is a dangerous pick. So often other teams don't want to take a risk on them.

I suspect you are only noticing the ones that do well and not the ones that flame out after a few years. I have drafted both types.

Yup. But I weigh that wildcard aspect high. Just in case. |

That does happen, It's just that I've never drafted a truely elite player outside the first round who wasn't a 'no workout guy'. I mean a guy who has great ratings(40/80 maybe) straight away when you draft him, not a boomer. |

ive never seen a 40/80 guy drafted outside the top half of the 1st round workout or no workout |

Couple OT questions if ya don't mind. 2060 something and still only at 3 mill. How do you do that ? Real low/no cap increase, I assume - Is it working well for the AI ? Also How do you "quick sim" ? |
i drafted Stan Sander in the 2nd round and he was a no-workout guy. I think he was something like 65/90 coming out of training camp or something.

I definitely think it's worth taking a risk on no-combine players as the draft progresses. More often than not they're a bust but you do get the occasional good starter out of it which for a late round pick is very good going. I think I got my team's leader in sacks at the bottom of the 6th round because he was a no combine draftee.

I increase 10/30 each year. It hasnt made much of a difference really as regards AI..I syill have a house rule of staying 30 mil under the cap..I normally have much more. Quick simming for me is basically only drafting and free agency..no gameplanning or depth charts. I leave all that to the scout/coaches. The only thing I really dedicate time to is drafting really, I tend to do pretty well in the draft except for linebackers and QBs(regardless of the scout). |

i really think the only way to get elite players at the end of round 1/ start of 2 isby drafting these guys. |

I got a 19/92 Center out of the 5th round. Was like 22/85 out of camp the first year, 55/82 at the end of the first season, and 65/93 Coming out of his second camp. Maxed at 94/94 at the end of the 2nd season. I've found a lot of late round lineman who have huge potential (and actually live up to it) but are way underdeveloped. Certain position just seem to NEED to be drafted in the first round for me though...like DEs. |
