FWIW...new Rush song clip
Quite a lame tease. 15 seconds of what sounds like an intro. At least throw a few bars of the main riff.
Funny how the last chord sounds similar to the opening chord of Hemispheres http://www.rush.com/php/home.php?f=1 Link is in the black box, towards the bottom. |
Don't worry, it will leak soon enough.

Your're my minion on this. ;) I'm not going to waste my time looking in the usual places. I don't want to have to listen to 43 version of Tom Sawyer just to find the 1 jewel. If you hear anything, let me know. I hope the rest of the album is this snotty and cool. |
Just for reference, I would blow Peart just to show my appreciation.
|
The last Rush album I heard (can't recall the title, was released a few years ago) was awful. Not so much for the music contained on it, which was pretty average, but more because of the amazingly awful production IMO, which surprised me considering the band.
|
I'd guess that was Vapor Trails, Groundhog. And I'd agree.
I don't know toward which diety I need to direct this request, but please let the new album be better than VT. Please. |
That song will be released to radio on March 13th, FYI.

God, my most hated group, just for the reason of Getty Lee's (or however you spell his names) voice....

Don't forget the pretentious lyrics! |
I defy you to call these lyrics pretentious:
Net boy, net girl Send your impulse 'round the world Put your message in a modem And throw it in the Cyber Sea |
The new single is [lawfully] available to stream on rush.com. Sounds good.
Also, apparently ticketmaster accidentally leaked this, then pulled it: Sat, 09/01/07 07:30 PM Rush Riverbend Music Center Cincinnati, OH on sale: Sat, 04/14/07 10:00 AM Never seen them, might have to go. And finally, maybe this was mentioned elsewhere, but has there really been no discussion of the new ESPN fantasy baseball commercial?! hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ0CPHplmhY |
Not bad. I just dig them for some silly reason.
They were the first band I ever saw live. |

I owe a deity somewhere a favor. Snakes & Arrows is much better than Vapor Trails. Much better. I'd say it's their best effort since Counterparts. Anybody else pick this up? Overall I'm very pleased with most of the musical content of the songs, but Peart's lyrics seem...I dunno...uninspired. I don't mind the preachiness so much as the somewhat straightforward, boring way he does it. I miss the metaphors and the stories of their earlier work. I'm most impressed with by their inclusion of three instrumentals - especially Malignant Narcissism. That song's old school, baby. |
I think it stinks. I love Far Cry and all 3 instrumentals, but outside of that the lyrics are so laughable I can't even deal. It might be their best since Counterparts, but that doesn't mean much because Counterparts is their last album that was good. Test For Echo was about half good, and Vapor Trails was a steaming turd.
It honestly pains me because these guys are one of the pillars of my personal taste in music. |
Finally got it. Third time listening, and so far I'm digging it. I don't know what came over them to throw three instrumentals on, but I like how they all kind of dovetail into the next song. "The Way the Wind Blows" is my early favorite on the CD. Seeing them 6/16 at Ford Amphitheater. Hate the venue, but whatev. Gonna love it.
