noob question re Cap Increase Range for historical files

Hi all. I'm in my first year of a SP league using Nilodor's historical files (very much enjoying the files, thanks!). Before I finish the year, I want to make sure I have my options set up properly to have a realistic cap. What Cap Increase Range would people recommend for these files? I guess the standard according to Jim is 28-80, but is that the best setting for the historical files? I reviewed Nilodor's initial posts but am still confused on this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know this won't help alot, but it is a little. I started in 1975; and using normal options I got a 3+ mill increase the first couple TV deals. This seemed to be too much for modern football thinking - as there were very minimal FA activity. As for the era though, it was OK.

So, just going from that - to keep with era accuracy, I would change the settings to 34 & 35 to keep them in that range in the beginning, and gradually increase for the next couple deals. Then when FA got big in the NFL - I would drastically decrease to get more FAs out.

Not sure what you want to see happen in your "world" though.

started a historical SP game in 1966 with cap at 15.1 million im now in 1972 and the cap is 55.9 million, with a increase of 6.7 million per year
doing the math in my head the cap in 2007 should be around the 300+ million mark, does anyone have a good answer to keep the cap under control?

You can edit the salary increases to your liking. (Under Global Options)

*Note - you'll have to wait until the current TV deal has concluded before the changes take effect.

right, or set it for say 9 - 10; and it'll always be between 900,00 & 1,000,000.

Whatever suits your purposes.

Thanks for the ideas. I started out in 1974 (I am a Steelers fan :-) ) and may try out your suggestions for era accuracy. Seems like I need to rein in the default numbers at least somewhat any event.

I started in 1974 with the Steelers as well. Won my first FOB in 76 and proceeded to win 6 bowls in 8 years. The 1974 Steelers were awesome!
