bulletsponge 02-26-2007 10:37 PM

Why not? I'm done with the demo and I know some will have this game and might post in the MLB 2k7 thread that has demo impressions.

I only reserved my copy yesterday, so I guess they didn't get around to giving me a call about it being in today. I'll stop in after work to check up on it, though. Cardinals all the way, baby!

Oh yeah! They called last night and my wife gave me the

Terps 02-27-2007 10:08 AM

Going to try to find this now.. WalMart didn't have it out at midnight, because they told me they didn't put them out until during the day, but The Show was already on the shelves. *shrug*

Flasch186 02-27-2007 10:28 AM

trip to Gamestop #1, failure. UPS hasnt shown up yet.

Ill go in an hour.

"why not call?"

I can tell that they hate that.

Terps 02-27-2007 01:51 PM

Just got home with it, haven't done anything except change the settings so far.

AgustusM 02-27-2007 01:56 PM

glad to see someone has it.

last week Amazon changed delivery to 2/27

today they changed it back to 3/5

calling EB games now

AgustusM 02-27-2007 02:06 PM

EB says they have it - cancelling the amazon one and tehn off to the store.

Terps 02-27-2007 02:06 PM

If anyone has any questions or anything you want me to look for, go ahead and ask.

Just messing around with editing some guys right now. The Orioles two players that I had to edit that were scabs were Jamie Walker and Kevin Millar. The first and last initial of the players is the same as what their correct names should be. Joe Young (Barry Bonds) might be the exception to that rule.

Joe Canadian 02-27-2007 02:15 PM

Is there any type of assisted fielding in the retail version?

Terps 02-27-2007 02:16 PM

No option for auto or assisted fielding. When the ball is hit the player will move towards it for a couple steps for you though.

Terps 02-27-2007 02:22 PM

Started a game up with the O's against the D Rays. I think the graphics look much better than in the demo. Maybe they didn't seem as nice in a dump like Shea Stadium.

I drew a 5 pitch walk with Brian Roberts my first at bat.

MizzouRah 02-27-2007 02:22 PM

I know there is a small update to the game when you log onto XBL, also there is a roster update that's dated 02/16.

rowech 02-27-2007 02:59 PM

I'm wondering what folks are seeing different from the demo, if anything.

Terps 02-27-2007 03:22 PM

After a half of a game, I don't think I'm going to have any problem with pitchers stamina or pitch counts. Jae-Weong Seo was already down into the 20's in stamina in the 5th inning after around 70 pitches before he got taken out. He went 4 IP, 2 R on 7 hits, 4 walks, and 5 K's. So the computer will throw balls, you just have to be patient.

By contrast, I have Erik Bedard pitching, and he's at about 45% stamina after 5 innings, with about 75-80 pitches thrown. So far, 5 IP, 2 R on 6 hits, 0 BB and 3 K's.

Pumpy Tudors 02-27-2007 03:23 PM

In about 2 hours, I should be playing, unless the local Gamestop hoses me and claims they didn't get it today.

mauchow 02-27-2007 03:43 PM

I got it this morning... been sitting on the shelf since, thanks to work. After I close on my house tonight and go out to eat to celebrate, THEN and only then will I get a few hours worth of playing in.. oh, who am I kidding, about 10 hours as I stay up through the night playing. Yes!

dj_morton 02-27-2007 04:26 PM

I have to wait a couple of weeks for AAFES to get the game in. One of the pleasures of being stationed in the UK, last to get EVERYTHING!!

AgustusM 02-27-2007 04:37 PM

graphics look good, but somehow not up to the level that I saw on the previews - not sure what is going on there and if I need to check some settings. I would call it 80% HD for lack of a better term. Better then last year, but not off the charts better like I saw in the previews.

pitching was relatively easy - I gave up 2 runs that both could have been prevented with better defense - a single I played into a triple and a walk and 2 SB's while I threw to first instead of to the correct base.

Hitting I was awful which was probably a combination of a bad lineup (Giants) a great pitcher (Peavy) and some poor joystick jockeying (me) - I got shutout on 6 hits, mostly seeing eye grounders up the middle. It didn't help that I hit into 3 double plays. I didn't even close to an extra base hit.

I do really like the new menu - I hated the old 2k right stick menu thing. this new one is all drop downs almost like a PC text game. everything is right there and easy to find. Big improvement in that department for me.

rowech 02-27-2007 04:59 PM

I'm wondering about the graphics then because many on various forums have mentioned the graphics don't matchup compared to the video they released.

INDalltheway 02-27-2007 05:00 PM

I've had too much fun with this playing with some friends. Defense takes a little getting used to, but is doable.

sooner333 02-27-2007 05:11 PM

I'm really bad at hitting, but the game is pretty fun and will get better as I get better.

I'm thinking about turning on the option where the sliders will adjust for you depending on how you are playing. Not sure how this will really work though.

Also, one kind of bug was when the runner took off for second on 3-2 count, I walked him but threw to second anyway. The ball went away from the fielders but the camera never changed, allowing the runner to score, because I couldn't get to the ball. The batter got to third and scored on the next play.

korme 02-27-2007 05:16 PM

Is this game supposed to be better than The Show?

Pumpy Tudors 02-27-2007 05:19 PM

omg a shorty sighting

heybrad 02-27-2007 05:22 PM

What better MLB2K7 or Shorty sighting?

Flasch186 02-27-2007 05:36 PM

I have to wake up from this dream.

Shorty is in the house so I know Im still sleeping.

I need to wake up to go buy this....in my dream I already did and am doing a PS3 system update right now, but I know that that's not true.

I only played one game - and the graphics are good - but they don't appear as clear as the video.

Now my HD TV is 3 years old and doesn't have 1080P - I didn't even notice what resolution the game was playing in, but too me it wasn't up to the standards of the video.

However my normal day to day HD watching is very high quality and my TV was top of the line, when I bought it.

Not sure why the graphics are "off" I am going to play at a friends tonight who has a brand new HDTV that does have 1080P and is very high end - so I will see if that makes a difference.

Terps 02-27-2007 07:27 PM

Alright, the first game I played I didn't have this problem, so I don't know what I did to have it come up now. But, when I play now there's a Orioles logo in the outfield and I know for a fact it wasn't there the first time I played and I don't know how to turn it off.

MizzouRah 02-27-2007 08:04 PM

Played my first full game vs the Royals. Pace is perfect, and I agree, pitching stamina is spot on. AI made some great moves against me as well.

I did have their CF make 3 spectacular catches against me, which I hope is only because I'm on pro? I don't want to see that many every game.

Game looks beautiful to me, I play on a 20" LCD widescreen.

I also have to use "classic" hitting as I don't like the swing stick as of yet.

EaglesFan27, I don't think you'll like the fielding, but you have a 50" HDTV so who knows.. it's the same as the demo though - I would rent it first if I was you. :)

Need more gaming time.

rowech 02-27-2007 08:33 PM

I played the demo 3 times tonight. I'm not sure this one's a purchase. I hit a single to centerfield that went by the centerfielder. He stood there and waited for the rightfielder to come all the way over to get the ball after the ball had stopped probably not 6 feet from him!

Secondly, there are WAAAAAYYYYY too many wild pitches in this game. I realize the pitching is sensitive but it's unacceptable. Also seems to be way too easy to hit homeruns (at least on rookie level).

I wouldn't say it's a bad game but it's not a complete game. I think next year it should be at the level of MLB the show.

Terps 02-27-2007 08:39 PM

I haven't seen a wild pitch thrown yet.

rowech 02-27-2007 08:46 PM

Are you kidding me Terps? In a 3 inning game, I'll throw about 6 or 7 and the computer will throw 2 or 3.

Flasch186 02-27-2007 08:52 PM

my first game, i made it through 7 innings....threw one in the first due to my lack of reading the manual regarding how to pitch but not one the rest of the way.....3 pitcher ejections though :)

Groundhog 02-27-2007 08:57 PM

How do you guys actually play a season in a baseball sim? With each team playing approx. 1,975 games per season, do you all just play one game per 378, or do you all quit your jobs, get wired on speed, and play through the whole thing 24x7? That should give you enough time to finish a season before MLB 2K8 comes along.

Nope, not a one. I've had a passed ball, and that was it.

sooner333 02-27-2007 09:11 PM

Not sure if you're serious or not, but generally people will play the games of one team. I know I had a dynasty with a friend where we would play the first game of a series and manage the others.

markprior22 02-27-2007 09:29 PM

Anyone playing the original XBox version? If so...any comments/feedback?

kingnebwsu 02-27-2007 10:03 PM

I don't think there's an original Xbox version.

markprior22 02-27-2007 10:21 PM

Yeah...it's out for original XBox...just not much feedback available.

INDalltheway 02-27-2007 10:31 PM

If you read how to pitch you wont throw that many wild pitches, only when you pitcher is tired or rattled. I think I have thrown 2 wild pitches in 5 games. Learn how to play the game before you bash it.

MizzouRah 02-27-2007 10:34 PM

The full version seems much more complete than the demo to me. Maybe because it has more presentation? Looks better as well.

I'm really getting into this game now after bumping the difficulty to all star.

Much fun so far!

Joe Canadian 02-27-2007 10:45 PM

7.9 from IGN... I'll probably rent it this weekend and see how it goes. The lack of any sort of assisted fielding killed the chance this would be a blind pick-up for me, I picked up CoD 2 & the Quick Charge unit instead.

RGunner 02-27-2007 11:16 PM

man you're already bumping it to all star...i suck at this...cant do the swing stick, so i switched it to classic, 0-2 in my franchise already, lost 4-0 and 3-2 on a walk off home run the second game, but the gameplay is great....having a lot of fun already...

Does pitcher fatigue work well? Or you can bring back your pitchers back the next day because they recover quickly?

sooner333 02-28-2007 12:43 AM

Unfortunately, it appears the franchise mode is somewhat broken according to the folks at OS forums. Hopefully it gets fixed pretty soon.

Anyone else going to try the sliders that adjust based on your play??? I'm thinking about it just for more fun games, but I don't know how much better I would get.

What seems to be broken? I have just been messing around with it and it seems deep. The InsideEdge scouting reports are something I could look at for hours.. It seems really deep, and it is looking like the stats are realistic. Enlighten me.

Apparently free agency isn't working really well and lineup logic once players get hurt is not good either. Maybe the free agency is weird because players are currently making between 50k and 2 million, then players start commanding real salaries. Like look at Clemens, he wants 12 mil for the year while Zito is making 1.7 mil.

MizzouRah 02-28-2007 09:43 AM

I usually don't do multiple seasons, so maybe "season" mode will be fine as I plan to play every game.
